Inter Youth Transformation Mission (IYTM) Sensitization of Secondary School Students on the Effects of Drugs
The Inter Youth Transformation Mission (IYTM) successfully carried out a two-day sensitization program across selected secondary schools, focusing on the dangers of drug abuse and the need for building morally responsible and academically sound young people. The program was anchored by PST (DR) Timipre Joseph Preyor and coordinated by Abaete Timipakebi, with strong support from dedicated team members and partners.
Purpose of the Program
The vision of IYTM is to build character and capacity in young people. This sensitization was designed to:
Educate students on the health risks of drug abuse
Create awareness of the educational and social consequences
Encourage students to make positive choices
Strengthen the values of discipline, self-control, and responsibility
Program Highlights
During the outreach, the team visited schools across Bomadi LGA and Kpakiama axis. Each school session was interactive, impactful, and highly engaging. The students were taught about:
The dangers of drugs such as codeine, tramadol, ma*****na, crack, and other harmful substances
How drug abuse leads to poor academic performance, loss of focus, and school dropout
Health consequences including brain damage, heart problems, addiction, and mental illness
Peer pressure management and how to say NO to drugs
Building a strong future through discipline and hard work
Testimony of Impact
The sensitization recorded overwhelming success as many students expressed gratitude for the knowledge gained. Teachers and school administrators commended IYTM for bringing such a timely and life-saving awareness to their schools. Many students testified that they never understood the deep dangers of drug abuse until the program enlightened them.
Some students reported that this sensitization has changed their mindset and strengthened their decision to avoid bad company and harmful substances. The program also gave hope to students who were struggling socially, motivating them to pursue a better and brighter future.

The success of the program was made possible through the commitment of the IYTM team members who dedicated their time, strength, and resources. Their cooperation ensured smooth transportation, effective presentation, and proper distribution of materials to the students.

The IYTM sensitization program stands as a remarkable intervention toward reducing drug abuse among teenagers. It brought enlightenment, hope, and transformation to many students.
