Celebrating 60 years of serving Columbus and Phenix City, WOKS broadcasts live 24 hours a day from their Wynnton Road studios in Columbus.
WOKS broadcasts a combination of Gospel, Blues & Rhythmic Oldies in addition to high school football games in the fall and special Church programming every Sunday.
While on the air for half a century WOKS has been a part of Davis Broadcasting Inc., Columbus for more than 20 years.
AM 1340 WOKS – Signed on the air in March of 1959 & has been serving the Columbus / Phenix city community ever since. The station has been known for its ground breaking events, activism in the community and legendary air personalities. WOKS originated the famous city wide talent show, as well as, the Needy Children's Christmas Party which gives away toys and bicycles to thousands of children each year! Both od these signature events continue today.
The “Station that started it all" is home to many of the greatest artists of all time - Michael Jackson & the Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, B.B. King, The Temptations, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Johnny Taylor, Shirley Caesar, James Cleveland and many, many more.
Today WOKS is still home to Classic Soul and R&B, as well as, the Blues, and traditional Gospel Music. The station has also been broadcasting coverage of high school football games for more than 30 years.
