The Mapua Cardinals ended a 33-year drought by defeating the Benilde Blazers, 94-82, to win the NCAA Season 100 Men’s Basketball Championship.

The Mapua Cardinals swept the finals series to claim their first NCAA title since 1991, led by Finals MVP Clint Escamis, who averaged 24 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals throughout the series. The victory also sets the tone for Mapua University’s upcoming centennial celebration in 2025, making it a historic moment for the school.

In the decisive Game 2 held on December 7, 2024, Mapua delivered a dominant performance. Key contributions came from Cuenco (19 points), Escamis (18), Mangubat (17), and Hubilla (15), as they controlled the game from the second quarter onwards. Despite a valiant effort by CSB’s Sanchez, who scored a game-high 24 points, and Ynot with 17, the Blazers fell short in the end.

The Cardinals were relentless on both ends of the court, reflected in the quarter scores: 24-23, 45-37, 66-56, and the final 94-82. With this championship, Mapua has cemented its legacy in NCAA history, and the celebration is only beginning.
