The September magazine is now in print and is available from Trefonen local shop. It will be available in the church porch at All Saints Trefonen, in the Barley Mow and in the Village Hall when we have had a chance to drop some copies off!

Please note that the Trefonen village shopkeepers have decided to reduce their evening opening hours and open only until 7 pm, now that the nights are drawing in.

The diary is a bit sparsely populated this next couple of weeks, August being August. However, Llanyblodwel's First Friday meeting is going ahead. This is what the organisers say about the meeting on 1st August: 'Once we were free to travel the world. Today, more and more borders are closed. Former New York Times reporter, inveterate traveller and Political Tours operator, Nicholas Wood, has had privileged access to many of the countries we can no longer enter. Join us as at 8.00pm on Friday 1st August as Nicholas takes us Behind Closed Doors.'

If you would like to help our new shopkeepers in Trefonen with their application to the post office, please write to our MP Helen Morgan, at [email protected], to support her efforts to get the Post Office to explain why they are proposing to charge them thousands of pounds' deposit. Helen has already indicated her support for having a post office in Trefonen, which she says is 'essential', and 'on the face of it [charging a high deposit] seems ill-thought through by the Post Office which should be trying to re-establish trust in an area where it has not made itself popular'. I think Vini and Thurma would also appreciate your making it known to them that you support their application.

Apologies that the colour pdfs of the July/August magazine have taken so long to be posted on the Border Parishes and Trefonen websites. I believe they are now there - but please leave a comment if you are continuing to have problems accessing them. Print copies are still available - only a few left - in Trefonen church porch and inside Llanyblodwel church.

Great news this morning - Trefonen Village Shop has reopened!
The new proprietors are Vini and Tharma. At present they have fruit and vegetables, milk, bread, toilet rolls, biscuits and lots of soft drinks. Soon they will be stocking basic groceries such as tea and coffee and tinned items. Vini asks that people tell her what they would like to buy, to help them know what to stock. I am writing a list! Newspapers will be stocked but this will take 2-3 weeks to set up. They are hoping to reopen the post office as soon as possible, but this will take a little while to organise - not least because the Post Office require a large financial deposit before they will set equipment etc. up!

The opening hours will be: Monday to Saturday 7.00am to 9.00pm, Sunday 8.00am to 8.00pm.

Welcome, Vini and Tharma!
