The Archdeacon is visiting our Benefice this Sunday (22nd) to get to know the people of our parishes. He will be at Trefonen church from 9.40 to 10.05 and in Llanyblodwel church from 10.20 to 10.45. Please do come and meet him.

A quieter period for events over the next week or so, but don't forget Trefonen WI's talk on 'The Shipping Forecast' (5th June) and St Michael's Llanyblodwel's First Friday event (6th June), both of which look interesting!

With the Trefonen Hill Walk weekend behind us, there is still plenty to look forward to in the next ten days or so. The parish magazine for June is now available both in the shop (black and white print version) and online on the trefonen.org and Border Benefice websites.

Trefonen is gearing up for the Hill Walk weekend, as you can see in the picture of the wooden cut-outs on the Memorial Green. Plus advance notice of an exciting jazz concert being held at the Llanyblodwel & Porthywaen Memorial Institute on Thursday 29th May.

A busy week for gardeners, with the Garden Club meeting on Thursday 15th followed by the Annual Plant Sale at Trefonen Village Hall on Saturday morning. Christian Aid week continues until 18th May.

Here is this week's diary and the table of church services in our two parishes for the month of May. A busy couple of weeks coming up - and don't forget to vote in the Council elections on Thursday 1st! Please note that in future the details of church services will be posted only in the pinned version which goes up at the start of each month, unless there is a change to the time or any other special need to duplicate the information. This is so as to be able to include more events in the diary and also to avoid mistakes in timings etc. when copying them across.

Next month’s magazine will be in print on Friday 25th and by Saturday 26th should be available from all the usual outlets. There you can read about the candidates in our two wards for the Shropshire Council elections on May 1st and details of the upcoming annual Trefonen Hill Walk. There is also an explanation of Llanyblodwel church’s flamboyant and literate interior; ‘a tale of two bishops’, as Bishops Michael and Sarah came through our parishes on the fifth leg of Bishop Michael’s Lenten Walking Pilgrimage on 7 April; a snapshot of 80 years of Christian Aid history; a gallery of photographs from the 10th Anniversary celebrations at the Trefonen Community Café, a report from the Football Club on their season, along with many of our regular features and announcements of events to look forward to in May.

If you want to get in trim for the Hill Walk weekend next month, Sunday 13th sees a 'spring walk in the Oswestry hills' guided by the Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Oswestry branch. The following weekend is taken up with Easter Bank Holidays on the Friday and Monday, and a number of church services to commemorate and celebrate the Christian festival, including an Easter family activities afternoon at All Saints Trefonen on Saturday 19th (see poster), to which all are welcome.
