ANGLICANISM: CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHURCH OF NIGERIA🎉
BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
A brief background on the matter: since 2008 the Church of Nigeria stayed away from LAMBETH conference in protest against theological liberalisms (gay marriage, etc); by implementation dissociate from the see/communion of Canterbury (Church of England), immediately the Church of Nigeria and other conservative provinces founded the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) in the same year 2008.
I'll expound this more in my next post.
So the Church of Nigeria, conservatives and Global South leaders through GAFCON (G26) established the new Communion and Council in Abuja to refocus leadership around traditional biblical authority.
The movement is anchored by The Abuja Affirmation, which sets out shared doctrine and reorders the global Church structure.
Now, on Sat. 22nd Aug. 2026 it was agreed in Global Anglican Council meeting in Brazil that Abuja, Nigeria will be the Headquarters of the Global Anglican Communion with shared/same doctrines, that's not as the liberals.
