2021 UPDATE: Since my siblings are an equal part of the pack, mom and I decided to rename my page to include them (they were gettin' kinda jealous that I had my very own page and they didn't) So now the page is called "The Kport Crew" cuz we live in Kennebunkport, Maine. Mom also made a TikTok with the same name so please find us there for fun vids of us. Luv you guys!

Hi, I'm Barney! I'm a 14 year old black and tan mini dachshund with a great sense of humor! On Saturday morning I was rushed to Phoenix to get emergency surgery after my condition deteriorated to such a state that I was paralyzed from the mid section back. The surgery was a necessity....my mom couldn't just let me be paralyzed and put me down. I'm the coolest dog in town and the love of my mom's life. Over the course of that year I recovered remarkably well and could walk, run and even jump a little. And then it happened again. On Thursday, March 29th, 2012, I went down again. It was probably my fault. I was at a boarding facility with lots of other weenies and I think I overdid it with the playing with all of them. Fortunately, mom caught it really early and immediately crated me and got me a prescription for Prednisone and Tramadol for pain. Once again, I couldn't walk or potty on my own. I had to sit in a traction crate, motionless for 8 weeks while my back healed. It was awful and my mom was really scared. But she didn't have the money to get me another expensive surgery so I was just gonna have to heal on my own. I'm happy to report that with some time I once again learned to walk! I walked like a drunken sailor for many months after my second time going down but I worked really hard and now no one makes fun of the way I walk. I still wear a belly band (a fancy word for a diaper) but I wear a long shirt that covers it a little bit. I'm gonna try reeeeeel hard to stay healthy and not hurt myself again. Mom created this page for my friends and anyone else who likes to look at my funny ears and read my silly posts. I love making people laugh and it's kinda cool being a facebook celebripet.

I'm doing okay even though my heart is broken. I'm taking all that love for Barney and showering it on my other 5 furkiddos. Teddy saw Barney again last night. Teddy seems to have a gift that the rest of us don't. I find it ironic because Barney in is codgery last years was not receptive to Teddy joining the family. And now Barney needs him to let us all know when he's in the room. 😄
Thank you a million times over for the outpouring of love. You are all helping me get through this. You are helping Barney's memory stay alive in your kindness and love for others. 🥰
I hope you all have a Merry Christmas if you celebrate that. And Happy Holidays to anyone observing another tradition. ❤️

We are all feeling very sad tonight. The dogs know exactly what's going on. Nia is comforting Barney as his soul transitions over the bridge, reuniting with Clyde, his best friend. Teddy actually cried with me and Moji licked Barney's face. It's going to be a whole different energy here now that he's gone. I had a routine with Barney....Feedings, diaper changes, constant cuddles, bedding changes, plumping of pillows to prop him up, and on and on. My day had become consumed with him (I didn't mind) and I suddenly feel like I have no direction. It's only been 5 short hours since Barney passed in my arms but I've already caught myself thinking, "I need to prepare Barney's dinner". I know when I wake up tomorrow I'll instinctively get up to get Barney some water. And then I'll remember. And I'll probably be a puddle of tears all over again. All pet parents know that this is the eventuality of letting these darling little critters sneak into our hearts and lives. But we're never ready when they leave us. NEVER. My heart is in a million pieces tonight.

I am so sad to say that Barney just passed away in my arms 15 min ago. I'm devastated but I know that his best friend and partner in crime, Clyde is welcoming him over the bridge as I type this. Barney was 15 1/2.

Barney is telling me he's ready for his final glorious romp over the rainbow bridge. I'm hoping he'll stick around for one last Christmas but the bridge may claim him sooner. If you want to do something nice to honor him, please consider making a donation to your local shelter in his name. That way, my beautiful boy will live on through all the other pups who will be cared for at rescues, just like he was 13 1/2 years ago when we first met. ❤️

So....this lady showed up at the salon with NO appointment and expected to be seen immediately. I accommodated her and spend over an hour and a half doing her hair and nails. In the end she refused to tip me and asked to speak to the manager. She complained that I didn't bring her a "carrotini" to sip while I was coiffing her. The NERVE!
