Transcript :Following up on update since last Friday, Aug 29,2025 when Walt Disney World resort was
impacted by the power surges which was unexpectedly.
I want to clarify on two words, outages and surges. I already have mentioned that outages.
There are similar things related to lighting effects and electrical issues.
The outage is when the lighting strikes, or during the hurricane wind caused to broke the line
that caused blackout or stay out of power for a while.
The surge is of course, lighting strikes, or overload power the grid that caused power out for
few seconds or flicking a bit. It was not stay blackout or out of power.
Again, I want to clarity on some points what was happened at WDW resorts. When the lighting
strikes hit somewhere in WDW area that did happened at same time in the four parks and
outside of WDW area such as the golden oaks, the private residents who lives there already
has experienced that day.
Keep in the mind, about over 60 attractions, I was not sure what was exact number, maybe 40
were effected by the power surges, and forced in temporarily closed. I keep to read some
comments from annual pass holder for disney group, and one currently CM (Cast members)
already remind us. CM did not give us more details, but some idea that help us to understand.
CM reminds that when the power surges hit all of four parks, and put them under the pressure
to deal all of these different situations such as get the guests out of the rides as in evacuation,
give directions to the guests and more. It was very unique situation for them. I feel bad for the
guests paid this very expensive at Disney that just happened that day. It was not Disney’s fault.
I do not want to bring any negative on this, but this is a fact that just happened and deal with it
daily. You have no idea how it did impacted on CMs, but do not forget about wine and food
festival has begun two days ago, and even not so scary Halloween party. There are two major
events during this season. I feel bad for CMs.
For example, AP guest did mentioned about Soaring ride at Epcot. There are different ways to
get them out of the seats higher. If you know Soaring is kind of gliding up. There are no ladder
or else. They had to call firefighters or special teams comes in to get them off in proper and
safety way. It is very interesting. I must imagine that the firefighters must be there to deal all
over the four parks. It is not serious, but the safety comes in the top priority.
I did have posted a man made video and he told us that he has experienced that Epcot was
eerily quiet, because no music or everything noises around Space Earth. I can see some lights
were off, but hard to tell. For you, hearing fans, you may noticed. I can’t hear it, but I asked
my mom about this. She is a hearing and told me yes, there are music still there in all four
parks.
Back to this follow up. On same day, after 6pm, they already have restored the power, and
back to normal operation. Some rides were stay closed temporarily until next day, it was back
to normal as usual.
I learned that someone has explained why some rides has take time to warm up like back in
old days, when you turned the computer on which was take time to warm up. It is kind of same
concept but I know the rides may be old, but they still keep updates and refurbishing.
During that was happening, it was not affected on meet and greet characters, and food kiosks
are doing running as normal.
That day was unexpectedly and just one lighting strikes somewhere to caused the power
surges all over the resorts including four parks. The Disney can’t say what caused or where it
was. It was during thunderstorm, and it was not their first time. It did happen. That is all.. Have
a good magical day.
