Welcome to the SERD Family, Dr. Hayat Ullah, PhD!

The AIT School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), is pleased to welcome Dr. Hayat Ullah, PhD as a Senior Research Specialist in the Agricultural Systems and Engineering Academic Program (ASE), Department of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Dr. Hayat brings a wealth of expertise and experience to SERD. He holds two MSc degrees—one in Botany from the University of Peshawar, Pakistan, and another in Agricultural Systems and Engineering from AIT, where he graduated with distinction. He also earned his Ph.D. in the same field from AIT.

Prior to this role, he served as a Regional Agriculture Expert in the department and worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow from 2020 to 2021. With 85 publications indexed in Scopus, an h-index of 22, and over 1,940 citations, Dr. Hayat has made significant contributions to the scientific community through his work in high-impact journals such as Advances in Agronomy, Agricultural Water Management, European Journal of Agronomy, and many more.

His research interests span Regenerative Agriculture, Agricultural Biotechnology, Climate-Smart Agriculture, Plant Stress Physiology, Plant Breeding and Genetics, and Crop Ecophysiology.
We are confident that Dr. Hayat’s expertise will greatly enrich our academic and research endeavors.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Sir Fazal Wahid one of my high school teachers, affectionately known as "Bagh Mama." He was more than just a teacher – he was a mentor, a guide, and a fatherly figure to everyone fortunate enough to be his student. His wisdom and kindness shaped countless lives, and his legacy as a teacher of teachers will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the honor to know him. May his soul rest in peace, and may we carry forward the lessons he taught us with the same compassion and dedication that he embodied.

Thrilled to share that my international collaboration has led to a publication in the esteemed Urban Climate journal! 📝(IF 6.4). Working alongside talented colleagues from Kabul University, Afghanistan, (Hayatullah Mushwani and others) has been an incredible experience, and I'm immensely proud of our achievement.

This collaboration has not only expanded my horizons but also reinforced the power of global teamwork in advancing research. 🌍💡 Looking forward to continuing this fruitful partnership and exploring new avenues of collaboration!
