Knowing what I know now, the one thing I’d tell myself 13 years ago when I was just starting out is this:
STAY FOCUSED. 🎯
It’s SO easy to get distracted by all the shiny objects thrown your way in this business. But after all the ups and downs, here’s what I would focus on if I could do it all over again:
✅ Start with a Digital Product Strategy: From day one, I’d build my business around digital products. Why? Because when you own a digital product, YOU control your business growth.
✅ Solve ONE Problem: Don’t try to be everything to everyone. Focus on solving one problem and create the best solution for your audience.
✅ Grow Your Email List: I’d prioritize this from the start. Your email list is hands down your best asset for selling digital products—not SEO or social media posts.
✅ Use Smart SEO Practices: Follow SEO best practices, but don’t obsess over it. Create great content without chasing keywords all day. 😉
Here’s why I’m all about digital products: In 2019, I got hit hard by a Google algorithm update, and that’s when I pivoted to digital products. It saved my business and brought back my love for food blogging. 💖
