It’s been over 20 years ago since working on this film adaptation of Anna Deavere Smith's one-woman show with Cherie Fortis as lead producer. It’s sad to think about how little has changed since 1992. It's being re-broadcast by PBS this week. (Check local listings.)

BCRF turned its annual New York City Hot Pink gala into a virtual experience that raised more than $5.2 million to ensure that our lifesaving research continues, even in the midst of the current global crisis.
The star-studded program included a tribute to Hamilton star Mandy Gonzalez, who recently completed breast cancer treatment. Sir Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley, Norbert Leo Butz, Deborah Norville, Laura Benanti, Karlie Kloss, Edie Falco, Rachael Ray, Gretta Monahan, Carly Hughes, Joan Lunden, Amy Robach, Nile Rodgers, and many more supporters recorded messages of support for those affected by breast cancer and BCRF. Steven Tabakin served as director and executive producer of the program with video design and production by Batwin and Robin Productions.
Professional ballet dancer and advocate Maggie Kudirka, who was diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer at 23 and is currently in treatment, gave moving remarks about navigating a new normal. “Our support system and loved ones are no longer allowed to come with us to treatments. We have to wear extra protective gear. We, as a community, are in uncharted waters, and we’ll get through this together.”
Breast cancer does not stop for COVID-19, and neither will BCRF.

We are very sad learn of the death of our dear friend Buck Henry (Mr. Weber) -- one Hollywood's all-time greatest screenwriters and actors who generously leant his talents to this film. Rest in Peace, Buck.

Working on this benefit with The 24 Hour Plays was a blast! Four short musicals were written, rehearsed, staged, and performed by a brilliant, fearless, hilarious cast in 24 hours - an ambitious, exhausting and thrilling ride. A great time for the packed house at The American Airlines Theater, benefiting The Lillys who support gender and racial equality in the theater. More photos by Howard Sherman to come. Were there moments everyone asked, "Why did we agree to do this?" Yes. Would we do it again? Absolutely!

The title of the gripping, inspiring documentary “The Heart of Nuba” describes Catholic missionary Tom Catena, an American doctor running the Mother of Mercy Hospital in southern Sudan’s remote Nuba Mountains.
This wonderful film about the extraordinary physician Dr. Tom Catena opens this Friday in NYC. We've been working on getting the story of the Nuba people out for a long time, and we've been consulting with director Ken Carlson from this project's early days. It's a game changer. This film, which premieres tonight, is part of a years-long campaign to being attention to the plight of the besieged people of the Nuba Mountains of Sudan who have endured a genocidal campaign at the hands of indicted war criminal Omar al-Bashir. We've presented events, raised money, orchestrated the smuggling of emergency food aid, created and maintained this page honoring the extraordinary Dr. Tom Catena, and supported this film by Ken Carlson. Tonight is a night to celebrate the efforts of many people. Tomorrow the work continues.
