Small Town Dapper Canadian Small Town. Tailoring enthusiast. Follow my style journey Greetings, I’m Simon B. I have worked over 10 years in public, parapublic and private sectors.

I’m a professional computer engineer by trade, with a passion for menswear and craftsmanship for many years. Studying engineering made me appreciate the effort, knowledge and practice required for proper craftsmanship, especially in suits, shoes, ties and other garments. After I started reading about watches from an engineering perspective, my interest shifted towards menswear. I am also a directo

r on a few boards, both public and non-profit, while also working in management. More often than not, I have been the youngest at the table, hence the importance of looking the part. Therefore, my interest lies in executive attire but isn’t limited to suits. I also appreciate a more casual approach and am always willing to learn. Even though I live in a small town, dressing up is a part of me. I never skip an occasion to wear a suit, a tie or a sport coat. My style is something personal that grows up with me. Mistakes, missteps, change and improvements are all part of the journey. Wearing proper suits lets me feel amazing while encouraging the industry I love and the artisans I admire. I believe executive menswear enables you to express yourself and feel confident while giving you opportunities you would otherwise miss. It goes far beyond the clothing, style or comfort, it just works. Military uniforms, politicians, kings and public figures all use executive dressing, simply because the psychology behind it was proven again and again. After all, clothing is a tool like any other. In August 2021, I started an Instagram account and made it to 45k followers in less than a year! I love sharing my passion on menswear and being part of that community. Join us in learning on menswear, style, how to use it and even more about me or yourself!! Simon B – Small Town Dapper

Executive style - More Events with ties

Let’s go for a few more events in the life of the executive, this time looks with ties
Here are few more events I frequently have in my calendar for which I often ponder on what to wear.
This topic is actually very personal to me.

Let's discuss why :

▪️The Client Pitch - 3 piece and brown stripes
This is the moment when first impressions matter most. A 3 piece suit will do just that, but a brown tie tones it down, while also being slightly unusual. Enough to draw attention, no so much as to beg for it.

▪️The Business Lunch - Orange and Navy
Whether this is a lunch, dinner or any other typical business meeting, this tie and look will work. The Manhattan metalic orange is interesting enough without being a statement piece. Perfect for a classic elevated look.

▪️The Travel Day - Paisley and Flannel
Comfort is the keyword, and a 3 piece flannel suit delivers. Combined with a white shirt, pretty much any tie would work here, so why a not a bolder one. From the airport to the boardroom, this look makes your ready for anything (including sleeping on the plane)

▪️The Conference - DB POW and Medallions
You’ve seen this suit before for conferences, and you will see it again. Add a Lawrence Edit blue medallion tie for extra flair and you are good to go. Those 2 patterns are perfect for each other.

▪️The Casual Friday - Stripes and Uniform
Not that casual, but the blazer and grey trousers can certainly play that part. That tie has a certain academic feel to it, so it can certainly be used with textured outfits. For now, a cashmere blazer repeating the navy color is good enough.

What do you wear to these events?
Is there one in particular you often hesitate on what is right to wear?
Leave a comment and tell me your story, can't wait to discuss.
