My latest book, Designing Car Interiors – Book 3: Design Process, has grown directly from my experience working in OEM studios such as SEAT Design in Spain and Nissan Design America in California, as well as several automotive start-ups in China.
It is equally shaped by my teaching experience at ArtCenter College of Design (Europe), Elisava in Barcelona, and Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
Developing and delivering a fully online course for the Academy of Art University challenged me to articulate a design methodology that was clear, structured, and practical. That framework became the foundation of this book.
The book explores the complete interior design process — from research, keywords and icons, and visual communication, through to understanding vehicle brand identity and its influence on design language. It then carries the reader through the full studio process, from both professional and university perspectives, supported by real-world examples and applied project experience.
It’s the resource I wish I’d had as a student — and one I hope will support both emerging designers and fellow design educators.
The Designing Car Interiors series includes:
• Volume 1: Looking Back and Sketch Techniques
