Welcoming home for cutting edge Belgian jazz cats and forgotten treasures from the past. Sdban Records is an independent record label, obsessed with grooves.

It is the youngest member of the N.E.W.S. Records family, based in Ghent, Belgium. The label started off as a sixties and seventies compilation and reissue label, with label boss Stefaan Vandenberghe’s impressive personal vinyl collection at its core. The very first release was a milestone right away. The acclaimed ’Funky Chicken: Belgian grooves from the seventies’ compiled the best funk tracks f

rom the Belgian Seventies, a genre and era overlooked by many. The label also released reissues and retrospective compilations from the likes of André Brasseur and Koen De Bruyne. After two years of digging dusty crates, SDBAN broadens its horizon and starts focusing on contemporary talent as well. SDBAN Ultra is the sister label focusing on today’s lively jazz and funk scene, which is simply too exciting not to be explored.

This long-awaited edition brings one of Belgium’s most visionary jazz projects back to life. 🇧🇪

On Saturday 15 November, Brick Lane Jazz Festival and Sdban Records are joining forces for an afternoon full of dj sets and a special live act at GIMIC, Brussels.

New to the line-up is UK singer-songwriter and guitarist Olive Jones, alongside the previously announced dj sets from local heroes ECHT!, KAU, and Brick Lane Jazz Festival’s founder & resident DJ juju K.

Our friend and collaborator Lander Lenaerts (Jazztime Europe), known for compiling Let’s Get Swinging and Jack Sels – Minor Works on Sdban Records, has launched a new project.

His new imprint Vogel Books proudly presents its first publication: ‘Mon Devoghelaere – Jazzlogboek. Notities van een jazzvogel 1960–1968’.

Together with Mon Devoghelaere’s daughter, he has published the remarkable journals of the Belgian jazz journalist, offering an intimate and vivid look into Belgium’s jazz scene of the 1960s. Dutch only!

The record marks a pivotal moment in Belgian jazz history, where soul, funk and free improvisation came together in a family-driven project. 🇧🇪

It's been 3 years in the making, and we're glad having Glass Museum back with a brand-new full album on Sdban Records!

Title '4N4LOG CITY' reflects the rythm and repetition of life in urban spaces. The constant movement, encounters, and those little moments that shape our cities.

The trio remains rooted in their melodic foundation, but at the same time dares to venture into new territory. Guest appearances include Swiss drummer Arthur Hnatek, vocalist JDS adding soulful finesse to ‘Call Me Names’, and of course the gritty ‘VAN GLAS', a hip-hop-tinged track, with rapper JAZZ BRAK from STIKSTOF.
