They shoot horses, don’t they? After 13 years, it’s time to give this ol’ nag a rest, so this will be the last Gilded Palace Radio Show. Book-ending the show with the same two songs that announced Dave's very first broadcast in 2003, and as many of my favourites as possible in-between. Thanks to everyone who’s participated in the show over the years – whether by sending in a CD or visiting to record a session – and special thanks to Nats and Anneka (and Dionne) for helping “keep it between the ditches”.

If I did Album Of The Week, this week's would be the gloriously off-kilter offering of "new weird America" from Ralph White (Bad Livers) & Thor Harris (Swans). At the other end of the spectrum (at least of the light that shines through these cracks) we've got new stuff from Hanging Hills, a squalling guitar marathon from Anders Parker and a warning that you should arrive early for the shows on the forthcoming Austin Lucas tour, since you really don't want to miss Adam Faucett Music!

The final show of 2015, and still finding incredible new music: check out Sam Gleaves and Nathaniel Talbot. 2016 looks good too: Malcolm Holcombe's back and we're spinning the title track from his new album, Another Black Hole. Grudging concessions to Christmas are made once or twice on the playlist. Happy Humbug!

it's that time of year again - so, here's the Festive Fifteen (best of) for 2015. The keen-eyed (or those bothered) among you may question my tally: with a straggler from 2014 that demanded inclusion (not to mention top spot), it didn't seem fair to exclude anything from this year. Think of it as a bonus. Hey, its Christmas, right? Yeah, I know, I'm a regular Santa Claus...

First time I ever DJ'ed on radio, by complete chance, was on WTJU when I was visiting friends in Charlottesville in the summer of 1990. Just happened across this video of Old Man Luedecke and Tim O'Brien, who've evidently just visited town, performing what is easily one of my favourite songs of 2015. Glad to see the station (and college radio) are still going strong...

Celebrating the return to the UK of Will Johnson (touring December) and Richmond Fontaine (touring April), as well as playing some fiery bluegrass from The Foggy Hogtown Boys, good-time rockabilly from Texas T and the Shine Runners and a ‘truck song’ from Fred Eaglesmith - hey, we like trucks.
I think the Fontaine track is what the kids call a "deep cut" and Will's is an epic seconds shy of seven minutes. Dig it: https://totallyradio.com/shows/gilded-palace/episodes/gilded-palace-30-nov-2015
