BREAKING: JAMB is no longer a must for university admission! 😳📚
Yes, you read that right.
The Federal Government has just announced a major reform that could change the way students get into universities, polytechnics, and colleges across Nigeria.
Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, admission is about to get simpler — and fairer.
For years, millions of students have written JAMB...
but only a few make it through. 🥺
Now, the government says — maybe the problem wasn’t the students after all, but the rigid system.
🎓 With this new policy, schools can now admit students based on their SSCE results (WAEC or NECO) — not just JAMB scores.
Here’s how it works:
✅ Universities: 5 credits in relevant subjects (including English). Math is only required for science, tech, or social science courses.
✅ Polytechnics (ND): 4 credits including English.
✅ HND programs: 5 credits including English and Mathematics.
The goal? To remove barriers and give more students a real shot at higher education. 🙌
Important note — this doesn’t abolish JAMB, it just means it’s no longer the only gatekeeper. Schools now have more freedom to admit students directly.
If this policy holds, Nigeria’s admission system might never be the same again.
