I think one of the coolest things about watching this project grow is watching the international numbers grow. I now have someone listening in France. Someone in Germany has listened to all the episodes. Someone in Singapore has listened to almost all. I've got 2 people in China. 1 in Romania. A few in England and Scotland. A good pal in Mexico is tuning in. And there are two listeners in a place called "Other." Not sure where that is, but I'm thankful for the support nonetheless.

Abe Partridge led first to Ferrill Gibbs, then The Frog Pond Sunday Social host Cathe Steele, who introduced me to show 18's guest, Grace Askew. First, I got to witness Grace on stage at The Frog Pond. Then I got to chat with her at her kitchen counter in Memphis. Here is our chat.

If you want to know how someone goes from being a fundamental baptist preacher, to enlisting in the Air Force, to then become a songwriter and painter who works with tar, to then capture the songs of serpent handling churches of the south and turn that into a podcast, then you want to tune into this here show with Abe Partridge.

And if you want to get on the ground floor of the album he's about to make with Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley, snag something cool off his Kickstarter link in comments before the end of the month.

Tomorrow I’ll have Abe Partridge, musician, painter, podcaster, and all around good dude. He’s working on raising funds (kickstarter in comments) for making an album and he’s got a few days left on his campaign. So I figured I’d share this chat we had October 18, 2022 to help promote.

I don't know about you, but it really excites me to find out that this show is making its way around the world. I now have listeners in Germany, Singapore, China, Romania, London, Mexico, and a few "other." Hmmm, where could "other" be?? Someone in Saxony, Germany (whose capital is Dresden) has listened to almost every show! If you're seeing this post, my international listeners, drop me a line!

Got another one for ya! Houston mover and shaker, trombone extraordinaire, and gumbo chef, Matthew Hartnett. This guy has known his purpose since he was 12, and he's been living his life ever since then, dedicated to it. Now that's a doer.

A little later than I'd like to have released it today, but I'm sticking to every Thursday, no matter what. I got this one just under the wire. A great chat with River, formerly Sarah, of Sarah Shook & The Disarmers. We talked about how she fronted 2 bands at the same time, releasing 2 albums in the same year on 2 different labels. We also got into her sobriety, her nonbinary declaration, the importance of a daily walk, and much more.

I try to meet my guests face-to-face whenever possible, because it makes for the best conversations. But I'll take a Zoom call when that's the only route. Tomorrow, you'll get the first Zoom call I'm releasing, because luckily, I've been able to have way more face-to-face than Zoom. River Shook of Sarah Shook & The Disarmers (who are on their farewell tour) and Mightmare was a great chat. I'm happy to get to share it with you tomorrow.
