Once again, spring festival season is upon us. This year, on a weekend in May, being seniors with nothing better to do after AP exams, we have decided to officially take part in the 48 Hour Film Project, a 48 hour film competition that guarantees local screening and whose winners progress to compete on a world stage for a chance at Cannes Film Festival, in Cannes, France. Registration for Houston is not yet open but should be soon. Anyone interested in join our team for this project should check out this link for the official rules and then contact me so that we can get a roster going; that way we are able to promptly get our team a spot once the registration opens. Those who took part in our practice run last year know sort of how this goes, but this time we plan to be far more organized with a production schedule and team delegations, hopefully putting us in contention for the grand prize. P.S. for those that don't know how this works, the date in May has not yet been release but the project will start at the initiation ceremony at a yet undisclosed location in Houston where all the teams will gather. The clock starts at 7:00pm on a Friday night and you have until 7:30pm on Sunday to get your finished film to the drop off location with all proper documentation. You are given a genre, a name (Griffin, Tom, etc.), a character (A plumber, A pilot, etc.), a prop, and a line of dialogue which you must all incorporate into your film, much like an essay prompt. Awards are given out much like the Oscars, with prizes ranging from Best Actor to "Cutest Film".
