Autumn is chugging towards us at breakneck speed so here we are seeking out articles for what will be our final issue at the helm of Witchology!
After 5 brilliant years and 20 magical issues, Christie and I have made the super challenging decision to end our journey with the magazine. Sad times! We have loved curating this magazine, but other paths are commanding our attention and it is time for us to realign our planets and priorities.
Our goal with Witchology has always been to make sure that those who contributed were paid for their work. We have worked so hard over the years to ensure that this standard has been maintained without passing the cost onto the customer, however, the rising costs of everything plus the never ending burn out cycle of content creation have made this progressively more difficult.
We both have full time jobs and Witchology is our passion project for evenings and weekends, but as it gets more financially challenging to run, it has taken a lot of the joy out of creating it.
We are talking to a couple of people who are interested in potentially taking the magazine on, and will keep you informed if anything comes of this.
But in the meantime, we are hoping that you will join us as we go out with a bang on our last issue! We would also really appreciate it if you might consider contributing a piece without an invoice on this one occasion to help us wrap up the last few bills we have outstanding. We completely understand if you do not feel comfortable with this arrangement though, we know everyone has bills to pay!
The Autumn issue will be the DEATH ISSUE and the deadlines will be:
💀 Pitches - 11th August
💀 Final drafts - 19th August
We are looking for articles, photography, and poetry themed around:
⚰️ Necromancy
⚰️ Graveyard magic
⚰️ Death rituals
⚰️ Grief tending
⚰️ Underworld deities
⚰️ Souls and consciousness
⚰️ Seances and mediumship
⚰️ Spiritual signs
⚰️ Ghosts/spectres/phantoms
⚰️ Rituals for ending/letting go
⚰️ Ego death
We'd love to hear about different traditions and practices, or if you have an interesting take on what Death means to you, we'd love to read it!
