Michael Urie has been having a busy fall season. He just wrapped his Broadway role in Oh, Mary! on September 28th, and is now transitioning right into a starring role in Red Bull Theater’s Off-Broadway production of Richard II until November 30th!

It’s this intense pride (pun intended) that bleeds out of Urie’s work, even off-stage. He’s the co-founder of Pride Plays, a q***r theater festival that runs during Pride Week in New York City that gives opportunities to q***r theater artists that might not be getting them otherwise.

Don’t miss his latest productions and learn more about his groundbreaking work off-stage.

If you miss the grit and charm of the old Fulton Fish Market, this one’s for you. The historic vibes are back — not in the early morning chaos kind of way, but through a fresh pop-up celebrating its legacy. Running now through Oct 31, the market-style space features fresh catches, smoked salmon bagels, and a dash of nostalgia.

Whether you’re a seafood purist or just here for the oyster bar vibes, it’s worth a walk-through. Bonus: it’s part food, part history, and very photogenic.

Interested in stopping in? Or are you a ‘fish are friends, not food’ type? 🐟

Jack Skellington has officially entered the chat. The New York Botanical Garden’s brand-new immersive experience opens today Sept 27, and yes, it’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in full-on magical light show form.

It’s part haunted walkthrough, part visual feast, and all the Tim Burton energy we need to kick off spooky season. It will be running through Nov 30, but we all know the best nights book up fast. Think moonlit pumpkins, glowing forests, and just enough eerie whimsy to make it unforgettable.

Are you more Halloween to the core or in full-on Christmas mode already?

The 63rd New York Film Festival opens Sept 26, and it’s already looking like one of the strongest lineups in years. Expect bold premieres, big names, and that rare NYC mix of indie cool and red-carpet energy.

A few films to have on your radar:

🎬 After the Hunt (Luca Guadagnino) — an academic thriller starring and
🎬 Secret Agent ( ) — a globe-spanning espionage drama with a sharp political edge starring
🎬 A House of Dynamite ( ) — a high-stakes political thriller following the U.S. government's scramble to respond to an unidentified missile threat starring and
🎬 If I Had Legs I’d Kick You ( ) — gives a searing performance in this anxiety‑ridden dramedy about motherhood, crisis, and what it means to hold on when everything feels unravelling

Screenings are citywide, but Lincoln Center is the main hub. Whether you’re there for a late-night Q&A or just soaking up the energy around the plaza, this is one of the best moments of fall film in NYC.

What film are you hoping to catch at NYFF63?

With Long Shadows dropping today, it’s time to revisit our cover story with —an actor who knows the power of collaboration.

“From my vantage point as ‘the older guy,’ I see the cast and crew saying, ‘Come on, we can do this together,’ or, ‘Here, let me show you this.’ That’s the beauty of this industry—passing knowledge hand-to-hand that no book can teach.”

Dermot’s love for filmmaking shines through in every role. Read the full story at the link in bio.

In case you needed another reminder as to why New York City is the best city to be in this fall….there’s definitely more than a cannon in the park to see in New York City.

Don’t miss out on The New York Film Festival , The NYC Food and Wine Festival , and The Village Halloween Parade . With the hot latte season right around the corner, we’re so glad there’s no shortage of coffee shops in NYC.

“The day you stop caring what other people think of you is the day you truly start living. And as I sit in a crowded coffee shop, sipping an overly expensive decaf iced latte, I never imagined I’d be the one typing those words.”

The verdict’s in from NYFW: funnel necks are officially a fall staple. We spotted them on the runways at Proenza Schouler, Bevza, and Dion Lee: structured, sculptural, and somehow cozier than your favorite turtleneck.

InStyle recently called them the “anti-flop collar,” giving your neckline shape without the bulk. It’s minimalist chic and unexpectedly versatile. Perfect for transitional weather or just pretending you have your life together.

As we approach the fall season and fall back into our old routines, it’s important to recognize the power of habit. Read our interview with The New York Times journalist in a conversation with Moves about his bestseller The Power of Habit and the lessons to be learned for all.

“About 40 to 45% of the actions we make every day are habits.” What’s a habit you’re trying to start or break? Let us know in the comments below.

Red carpets aside, the New York Film Festival is where NYC really flexes its film brain. Starting Sept 26, Lincoln Center turns into a magnet for directors, writers, critics, and film lovers, all debating, dissecting, and discovering new cinematic stories from around the world.

You don’t need to be a cinephile to enjoy it either. Go for the premieres, stay for the Q&As, or just hang at the steps between screenings and soak it all in. Whether you’re catching a buzzy title like After the Hunt or something off the radar, every film here feels like a discovery.

What’s your favorite way to do NYFF? Solo screenings, full-day binges, or just people-watching at Lincoln Center?
