IMMACULATE CONCEPTION SCHOOL FOR BOYS HOLDS GENERAL REHEARSALS AND FINAL TRAININGS FOR MACIPRISA MEET

November 3, 2025 | Immaculate Conception School for Boys (ICSB) is currently holding its General Rehearsals and Final Trainings in preparation for the upcoming MACIPRISA Meet.

The event started with a solemn morning prayer led by the students, setting a spirit of unity and faith. The rehearsal is graced by an inspirational message from Assistant Principal, Christian Mendoza, who reminds the Icons that MACIPRISA is not solely about winning but about learning meaningful lessons along the way.

“You are not recognized by your name alone, but by the whole representation of your school,” Mr. Mendoza emphasizes.
“When an Icon steps outside the school, he must remember his virtue—to remain humble, representing the Immaculate Mother of Mary. The best uniform is humility.”

He further reminds the students, “Be gracious in defeat and be humble in victory.” Sir Mendoza encourages everyone to celebrate success with humility and to remain armed with faith and prayer in every challenge they face.

Following his message, the Academic Coordinator, Sir Aldwin Custodio gives several reminders and motivates the students with an energetic cheer, “Let’s go, Icons!” encouraging them to show school spirit in the right and respectful way.

As part of the program, each coach and department head is recognized for their guidance and commitment to preparing the students for the competitions. Among those acknowledged are Academic Head Ma’am Aileen Capsa, Cultural Head Ma’am Ana Baltazar, and Sports Head Sir Romil Laxamana, whose leadership and dedication continue to inspire the Icons to give their best.

The day continues with final rehearsals, as participants confidently showcase their talents in various categories such as declamation, oration, pagbigkas ng tula, and extemporaneous speech, among others. Each performance reflects the students’ dedication, discipline, and pride as true Icons of ICSB.

The event highlights the school’s commitment to excellence and humility as the Icons prepare to represent the school in the upcoming MACIPRISA competitions. They carry with them not only their talents but also the values instilled in them—faith, humility, and excellence.

May the Icons carry their fire within and remain humble. “Sanctitas In Sapientia — Holiness in Wisdom.”

True greatness lies not in winning, but in the humility that shines through both victory and defeat.

Greetings of peace and prosperity!

Today, October 21, we celebrate the moved Feast Day of Saint Pedro Calungsod, a Filipino missionary catechist and martyr. His story inspires the young generation to heed the call to service, proving that one’s age is no barrier to achieving profound holiness. The faithful pray for his intercession, asking for the grace to live the Christian life with the same zeal and purity of heart that defined his mission and eventual martyrdom.

Indeed, may his life as a man of loyalty inspire us ICONS to be better, to do good, and to pray wholeheartedly throughout our life.

Immaculate Conception Community Stands Ready: ICONS and Lady ICONS Participate in Malolos Earthquake Drill

It was at October 13, 2025, that the Immaculate Conception community participated in an earthquake drill held according to the Malolos City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) Memorandum in light of the recent unusual consecutive earthquakes around the country.

At approximately 9:00 AM, the bell started ringing, prompting ICONS and Lady ICONS from all departments to immediately duck, take cover, and hold on. The bell rang for over a minute before stopping, allowing the evacuation to start.

Students evacuated their buildings section by section, carrying their go bags, while maintaining a fast pace. Maintaining order, they proceeded to the Malolos Cathedral’s parking lot, avoiding structures that may collapse in case of a strong earthquake.

Upon reaching their designated spots at the parking lot, sections conducted a head count to ensure everyone was safe and accounted for. They would then return to their respective classrooms, continuing their classes, marking the earthquake drill as a success and finished.

Recent earthquakes around the country have been alarming, especially with some reaching devastating levels of magnitude and intensity, such as the 7.4 magnitude quake off the coast of Davao Oriental on October 10 and the deadly 6.9 quake in Cebu last September.

In response, today’s simultaneous earthquake drill across schools around Malolos aims to prepare for the potential earthquakes that may come. It ensures that all learners, faculty members, and personnel are informed and properly guided on the appropriate actions to avoid any possible injuries or deadly outcomes.

We pray for our brothers and sisters who are affected by the calamities. We ask that they may find comfort, strength, and protection from harm. May we find hope and mercy during these challenging times.

Mind Matters: ICSB-ICSM Promotes Wellness and Mental Health Awareness in School Community

On Saturday, October 11, 2025, in timely observance of World Mental Health Day, the ICSB-ICSM school system successfully launched a vital webinar titled "Mind Matters: Promoting Wellness In Every ICONS and Lady ICONS." The digital event, hosted at 9:00 AM on Microsoft Teams, was geared toward the students of ICSB, ICSM-Metro, and ICSM-SHS, providing an illuminating session on comprehensive psychological well-being. The program was effectively orchestrated by Miss Maria Theresa O. Olaguer, MAEd, and smoothly emceed by students Alyxzayden L. Pangilinan and Miyana Emanuelle A. Bautista.

The proceedings commenced with the Opening Prayer led by Aliana Aioni C. Cajucom, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, Lupang Hinirang, and a supportive set of Opening Remarks from Mr. Julius C. Cruz, MA, RGC, the ICSB-ICSM Guidance Counsellor. Mr. Patrick D. Tapang, RPm, the school’s psychometrician, then introduced the esteemed guest speaker, Mr. Mark Joseph M. Jumaquio, RPm.

Mr. Jumaquio’s presentation began with an engaging feelings check, immediately validating the audience's emotions as central to mental health. He contextualized the discussion by addressing the common view of mental health in the Philippines, referring to it as "Pangkalugusan Pangkaisipan," and redefined mental health as a necessary state of balance, drawing inspiration from Saint Dymphna. To underscore institutional and legal support, the speaker cited key legislation, specifically mentioning Republic Act 11036 (The Mental Health Act) and RA 7277 (Magna Carta for Disabled Persons). He expanded his talk to cover various types of disabilities and the historical mistreatment of those with mental disorders in underserved communities, reviewing the global and Filipino mental health status while highlighting the recent educational mandate, DepEd Memorandum No. 077 est. 2025, on the dissemination of the Implementing Rules and Regulations of Republic Act 12080 (The Basic Education Mental Health and Well-Being Promotion Act).

Additionally, Mr. Jumaquio directly tackled the pervasive societal stigma and the issue of labeling those afflicted as "abnormal," connecting these challenges directly to common school-related issues like stress, anxiety, and burnout, thoroughly explaining their similarities and differences, and acknowledging their prevalence among students.

The latter half of the webinar focused on practical support through Psychological First-Aid (PFA), which the speaker detailed extensively. PFA instruction covered essential components, including ethical boundaries and considerations, the structured RAPID Model (Reflective listening, Assessment, Prioritization, Intervention, and Disposition), the necessity of ensuring safety and stability, the importance of active listening, techniques for recognizing signs of distress (both verbal and non-verbal), effective communication techniques, appropriate approaches when engaging someone in need, and crucial cultural considerations.

Finally, Mr. Jumaquio dedicated time to differentiating Empathy vs. Sympathy within the context of PFA, weaving in valuable personal experiences and professional advice as a psychometrician before concluding his address. The formal program drew to a close following an interactive open forum Q&A, the Awarding of Certificate to Mr. Jumaquio, Closing Remarks from Miss Olaguer, a Closing Prayer led by Aldriech G. Reyes, and the collective singing of the school hymn, "Salve Mater Immaculata," marking a successful and profoundly informative event for all ICONS and Lady ICONS.

ICSB Introduces New Student Clubs Aimed at Fostering Wellness and Literacy

The Immaculate Conception School for Boys (ICSB) formally introduced two new student organizations — the ICONS Peer Club and the Book Club — during a seminar held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at around 3:00 p.m. on the fourth floor of the main building.

The event, organized by the Student Development Center (SDC) and the school library, aimed to orient students on the purpose and objectives of the two clubs.

The ICONS Peer Club, formed under the SDC, focuses on promoting students’ well-being and personal development. Its advocacy includes raising awareness about mental health, encouraging positive student growth, and supporting academic improvement.

Meanwhile, the Book Club, organized by the school library, seeks to foster a stronger reading culture within the student body. It aims to develop reading habits, enhance comprehension skills, and motivate students to make better use of the library’s resources.

According to the organizers, both clubs aim to help students become more aware of the importance of mental health and literacy. These initiatives also hope to inspire students to extend their learning and compassion to others beyond the school community.

Through the efforts of these organizations, ICSB continues to uphold its mission of nurturing well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to society.

It is on this day, September 23, that we commemorate the holy Feast Day of St. Padre Pio.

He was one of the many Saints remembered by Church history to have received the stigmata, wounds similar to the crucified Christ. St. Padre Pio had borne these stigmata for 50 years, unexplainable by medical science.

He was also said to possess bilocation, that is, the capability of appearing in two places at the same time, with multiple accounts backing this story in his lifetime.

As a living person, St. Padre Pio often spent many hours of the day to hear the confessions of the ordinary folk, having the capability to read their hearts and reveal hidden sins, so that everyone who confessed may be guided to penance.

Lastly, he had numerous visions that consisted of Christ, Mary, and other saints throughout his time on Earth. This helped him stay strong in his spiritual battles, steadfastly maintaining faith against the devil, who tormented him spiritually and physically.

May Saint Padre Pio serve as an honest and righteous model of our lives, and that his intercessions may help our prayers to remain resolute and firm in the face of temptations, trials, and tribulations of everyday life.

Amen.
