Southwest Chicago Post Southwest Chicago Post on Facebook offers instant access to news and opinion of Chicago's Southwest Quite the contrary, in fact. ([email protected])

The Southwest Chicago Post is an independent news service for the people of Chicago's Southwest Side. Our aim is to promote prosperity, progress and peace in the neighborhoods we serve---primarily the neighborhoods on all four sides of Midway Airport, but our coverage will include items of interest to all Southwest Siders. We intend to champion local homeowners, locally owned and operated small bu

sinesses and professional practices, schools, libraries, parks, houses of worship and more. We strongly support local efforts to prevent crime and make neighborhoods safer. We do cheerfully assist and promote members of our local business and professional community, particularly those that are independent, locally owned and which hire local residents. We at the Southwest Chicago Post do not consider ourselves to be in competition with any existing community newspapers serving the Southwest Side. We will offer our content to them to enhance their products. We encourage everyone to support them as local businesses. This online news service is locally owned and operated by lifelong Southwest Siders Joan Hadac (Editor and Publisher) and Tim Hadac (Managing Editor), both of whom have worked as local newspaper reporters and editors for over 25 years each. We encourage all our readers to post comments on the news stories and opinion pieces that we post. All comments will be reviewed before being posted. We do allow anonymous comments, yet we will not allow the Southwest Chicago Post to serve as a forum for bigotry of any kind. We also will not allow personal attacks against anyone, including elected officials and other public figures. On this site, all of us need to keep our tone respectful and our criticisms constructive. We welcome your constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement.

Once again, the Midway Chamber of Commerce has come through with flying colors (especially red, white and blue) to present a festive, fun Patriot's Day Parade on Archer Avenue. Yet another indication that our local business owners care about the community. The Southwest Chicago Post has photos of the celebration posted at http://www.swchicagopost.com/2025/06/midway-chamber-of-commerces-patriots.html

Cowardly creeps have been vandalizing city and suburban businesses--well, for as long as there have been businesses.
That said, one quick and easy way for all of us to fight back is to stand with and support our local businesses, especially when they are victims of crimes, even something as small as an angry social misfit throwing a few chairs, etc.
The video shows one such miscreant in action at about 8 a.m. one recent day.
So, let's all order lunch and/or dinner from Triano's, soon. https://www.trianospizza.com/

This year's second Blue BBQ, hosted by Tracie Ellis in her Garfield Ridge backyard (shown here with her daughter, Jennifer New, and two CPD officers), is set for Friday, July 4.
As always, it will be a nice, informal lunch given to thank all in CPD's 8th District (and all others in law enforcement) for the invaluable service they provide every day.
Helping make the backyard event a success are generous donations from several local businesses, including Geno Randazzo/All Exterior Contractors and Garfield Ridge Investments, as well as individual volunteers.
Want to help? Donations of several things (like chips/snacks, bottled water, soda pop and plastic utensils) are welcome and may be dropped off at Cafe 63, 6411 W. 63rd Street, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., until July 2. :-)

Mark your calendars, bingo fans! :-)

Time is starting to run out for whoever bought a $1.1 million Lucky Day Lotto ticket last September at Miska's Liquors, 6410 W. 63rd Street. Such tickets expire after a year.
Also, Illinois Lottery officials are still waiting for the owner of a $100,000 Powerball ticket to step forward. That lucky ticket was purchased in March at the Shell at 49th and Cicero.
For a list of unclaimed winning tickets, please visit https://www.illinoislottery.com/about-the-games/unclaimed-lottery-prizes. Our thanks to Tommy Lotto for this reminder.

With today's ongoing downpours of rain, we're starting to hear reports of flooded basements and other water-related damage to homes and businesses across the Southwest Side.
If yours is one of them, please contact a trusted, respected flood mitigation and home restoration expert like Geno Randazzo of All Exterior Contractors at 708-705-7900.
As all of us know, rain can cause thousands of dollars in water damage to ceilings and walls--including mold.
All Exterior Contractors is licensed/bonded/insured and well respected. And please reach out to them BEFORE you call your insurance company.
DO NOT file a claim until you have a complete inspection done, as you do not want to have a claim against you where the damage does not exceed your deductible.
That’s doubly important because a respected home repair pro, like Geno Randazzo of All Exterior Contractors, will serve as your advocate and has a track record of ensuring that insurance companies pay homeowners what they should. 708-705-7900.
