Hey everyone,
I want to share a few personal thoughts in light of the heartbreaking news about Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Growing up in very conservative Idaho and having both grandfathers as pastors, that kind of upbringing gave me a strong foundation in faith and respect for others. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become politically independent, but those values of kindness and listening to people even when you don’t agree have always stuck with me.
I don’t lean one way or another politically, and I do my best to keep politics off this page. This space has always been about family, creativity, and community. At times, though, I’ve found myself discouraged from sharing my personal beliefs, worried that someone might stop liking me or caring for me if I did. That’s a tough place to be, and I know I’m not alone in feeling that way. You should always feel like you are able to use your freedom of speech without the worry of someone wanting to physically harm you.
That’s why I feel the need to say this: if anyone out there feels the need to celebrate the murder of somebody just because they thought differently, please unfollow me right now. Nobody should ever have to be afraid to speak their mind or share their opinion. We can disagree without hating each other, and we can tell the difference between hate and love. But taking a life over a difference of opinion is not only tragic it’s deeply wrong.
At the end of the day, my hope for this page is that it remains a place where people feel safe, welcome, and respected no matter their background or political stance. We can all hold different beliefs, but what we share here should always come from a place of compassion and humanity.
