The Rise and Fall of the BQX 🚊💸

The ambitious $2.7 billion Brooklyn-Queens Connector (BQX) streetcar project, proposed by former Mayor de Blasio in 2016, was meant to revolutionize NYC's public transit. 🌉🚌 But COVID-19 dealt a devastating blow, as the city faced a $7.4 billion budget shortfall. 💸💥 The BQX was unceremoniously nixed, its environmental review never even started. 🚫

This setback raises critical questions about NYC's commitment to sustainable, equitable transportation. 🤔🚲 In this video, we explore the rise and fall of the BQX, examining the political machinations, public backlash, and competing priorities that led to its demise. 🤼‍♂️

As the city's focus shifts to other projects like the QueensWay and Interborough Express, this serves as a cautionary tale. 🚧🚉 Will NYC seize the opportunity to embrace innovative, people-centric transportation, or remain beholden to the car-centric status quo? 🚗 The fate of the BQX may hold the key to a more sustainable, connected future. 🌆🚌

🚋 In a forgotten corner of the Brooklyn Navy Yard lies evidence of one of NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s largest failures: a mock-up of a BQX transit car.

At a time when NYC’s subway system was failing, DeBlasio dropped all plans to fix and expand it, instead putting forward a new light rail line.

On its surface, any new transit route within NYC would be welcome, but this one missed the mark entirely: duplicating existing routes with slower travel times and a board of directors composed entirely of real estate billionaires who would directly benefit from the 2.5 billion dollar taxpayer-funded fiasco.

The BQX project was placed on hold at the start of the 2020 pandemic, and Mayor Swagger has done nothing to revive it. With some luck, this vaporware project will never be revisited, and actual improved and expanded subway routes will receive added funding. 🛤️

🔍📷 Attention photography enthusiasts and vintage lens collectors! I'm on a quest to find the perfect adapter for a unique gem – the 135mm Minetar lens, a rare find with a history tied to the Tokyo Koki mount, measuring 49.2mm/1-15/16". This precursor to the T-Mount, used by brands like Soligor, Sun, and Vemar, represents a piece of photography's rich history.

I'm specifically looking for an adapter that fits the M42 range, as I already have an M42-EOS adapter ready to go. If anyone has insights on where to find a Tokyo Koki mount adapter for Minolta MD, M42, or Nikon cameras, your knowledge would be immensely appreciated.

Have you come across such adapters? Seen them in use or do know a store or collector who might help? Hit me up in the comments or drop me a message on my page here. Let's make vintage photography magic happen together! 🌟📸

Seeking Adapter for 135mm Minetar Lens with Rare 49.2mm Tokyo Koki Mount – Used by Soligor & Others. Need M42 Compatibility for M42-EOS Connection.
