From textile production to self-storage, and now, a stunning rebirth. 🏭➡️🏠 This is the incredible story of the Daniels Mill in Rockville, Connecticut.
Built in 1865 by the ambitious innovator Albert Dart, this mill was one of the first in a complex designed to run on the immense power of the Hockanum River. It produced everything from thread to the fabric lining for rubber boots, a true workhorse of the 19th-century textile boom.
But after the industry faded, the building's journey took a different turn. Decades of varied industrial use left the Daniels Mill with extensive contamination, so severe that every wooden floor and beam inside must be torn out and replaced.
Now, a new chapter begins. With over $4 million in state grants, a massive environmental cleanup is paving the way for a remarkable transformation. The historic Daniels Mill is set to become the amenities hub for a new residential community, preserving a vital piece of the city's past while building its future.
