A packed and highly engaged AACA Networking Event and Roundtable in Taipei, bringing together a who’s who of Taiwan’s production industry.

The message from the room was clear: Taiwan has real upside — but the next phase of growth will depend on stronger international distribution, sharper global market engagement, and continued momentum in co-production.

Thank you to all who helped shape the conversation, including Steven Lin, Fiona McKay, Michael McKay, Dennis Yang, Ronald Loke, Jessica Kam, Phil Tang, I-Li Lo and Shao-Yi Chen.

Highlights included Jessica Kam’s Taiwan–Indonesia co-production case study, Ronald Loke’s “eye opener” on co-production insurance, and Phil Tang and Dennis Yang’s insights into how AI is accelerating production workflows.

Fiona McKay also confirmed two new categories for the 2026 Asian Academy Creative Awards: Best Direction (Feature Film) and the RisingJoy-backed Best Micro Drama.

An exclusive AACA industry survey showed 89% of attendees expect production activity to remain stable or increase over the next two years.

The Asian Academy Creative Awards is proud to launch a new category for 2026: Best Micro-Drama. Presenters by RisingJoy, AACA’s Official Micro-Drama Partner.

Recognising the rapid rise of mobile-first storytelling, this new category celebrates excellence in scripted, serialised micro-drama created for 9:16 vertical viewing.

The addition of Best Micro-Drama brings the total number of categories at AACA 2026 to 39, with entries now open across 17 nations in Asia-Pacific.
