Our new home is amazing but moving in 90 degree weather is definitely miserable!

Still working out the kinks and trying to get set up and the critters moved...

We are all exhausted and hot and cranky but it will be fabulous once we are settled in.

Please be patient with us. We are moving 5 people and their offices and 140 animals along with all the supplies needed to care for them as quickly as possible.

We will remain temporarily closed while we continue to move into the new building.

Please be patient with us. Moving 140 animals and all their stuff and our team and all their stuff is a time consuming and tedious task.

Injured DeSoto County Veteran to Receive Mortgage-Free Smart Home from Tunnel to Towers Foundation

SOUTHAVEN, MS – The Tunnel to Towers Foundation will officially present a new, mortgage-free smart home to Army National Guard veteran William Brooks during a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, June 25 at 1:00 p.m.

Sergeant Brooks, a Southaven native, was severely injured while serving in Iraq in 2005 when his Humvee was struck by an IED. The explosion resulted in the loss of both of his legs. Fellow soldier Sergeant Richard Anthony, using his EMT training, saved Brooks’ life and was later awarded the Bronze Star with Valor.

Brooks spent more than a year recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center before retiring from the military. Since returning home, he has continued his public service, serving 12 years on the Southaven Board of Aldermen.

“I’m excited to finally have a forever home in my hometown,” said Brooks, who currently lives just a mile from the construction site. “I’m looking forward to cooking in my own kitchen and having space for a ceramic grill and smoker.”

Inspired to serve by his grandfathers, both World War II veterans, Brooks joined the National Guard in 1999 and was deployed to Iraq in 2005. His dedication to service—both in uniform and in his community—is being honored by Tunnel to Towers with this custom-built, accessible smart home.
