METAL HURLANT is not just about glorifying the past: it's about creating a dialogue; decontextualizing and recontextualizing; pairing elements that have chemical, or better yet, violent reactions to one another in the petri dish of the page; it's about recording pivotal moments in the history of sequential art, and reinvigorating them with proximity to brand new stories from creators all around the world.

So for today's , we're highlighting work NOT by Mœbius, but instead, the artist whose short story "Red Planet Tomatoes" follows Mœbius' iconic "Is Man Good?" in METAL HURLANT ISSUE 1: OLD DREAMS, YOUNG VISIONS.

Here is what James Stokoe had to say about his placement in Issue 1: “I’d say I’m about 75% flattered to be following a Mœbius strip, and 25% horrified! ....The seeming ease of Moebius’ cartooning continues to border on the supernatural for me, even after devouring his work for over twenty years. There’s always something new to learn staring at his pages; even his simplest strips are an education… And that kick to the bum in the second-to-last panel has no right to be that funny!”
