A Guide to Microdosing: Benefits, Protocols & Safety

Psychedelic researchers James Fadiman and Jordan Gruber are the authors of the new book, Microdosing for Health, Healing, and Enhanced Performance (2025). They join us on Adventures Through The Mind to discuss microdosing protocols, benefits, current research, and safety considerations.

Throughout the interview, you will learn the practical basics of psychedelic microdosing—substances, dosage, frequency and duration, when in the larger arc of our lives, and who would best benefit from microdosing; You will also learn about the benefits of microdosing that Gruber and Faidman discovered in their research, which they describe as A-Z, anorexia to zoster and everything in between—with a particular focus later on in the interview on microdosing for various neurological and mental health conditions like ADHD, TBI, dementia, and depression—as well as for the betterment of well people

You’ll also learn some of the issues facing microdosing as a both a practice and a premise— issues like placebo, research design, and the potential dangers of microdosing.

Enjoy!

Psychedelics for Chronic Pain | Dr. Alex Bekker - ATTMind Podcast 196

We deep dive into psychedelics as treatment for chronic pain with Dr. Alex Bekker, Professor and Chairman of Anaesthesiology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

We explore what chronic pain is, how it differs from acute pain, and its connection to maladaptive neuroplasticity. Dr. Bekker unpacks why current treatments often fail and how psychedelics—the classical psychedelics as well as ketamine—may effectively treat otherwise treatment-resistant conditions, as well as some practical advice for chronic pain sufferers.

Enjoy!

Psychedelic experiences open the mind—but that openness comes with risks. Facilitators and participants alike must understand the power of suggestion and how it can shape, or even distort, an experience. How do we protect ourselves from harmful influence while allowing true healing to unfold?

The International Center for Ethnobotanical Education, Research and Service's Jerónimo Mazarrasa helps us answer that question in this video.
