This weekend (December 13) an 88-year-old resident reported that her diamond wedding ring, an irreplaceable gift from her late husband, had been stolen.
Through diligent investigation, the officer identified a potential suspect, and ultimately obtained a confession. The following day, the officer met with the suspect, Pita Porter, 46, of Sacramento, and successfully recovered the stolen ring.
Porter was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Jail for **edited for the correct charge** Grand Theft (487(a) PC) and elder abuse (368(e)(1) PC). Most importantly, the cherished ring was returned to its rightful owner.
We are grateful for the dedication and compassion shown by our officers in bringing comfort and closure to this victim and her family.
