As he interviews them about the double reality of living in an exhibition space open to the public, Mattia Balsamini () photographs the amber glow of their interiors and the uncanny details of their objects.

For Valerie Giampietro () and Alessandro Cicoria (), Studioli is a house, a studio, an archive, a laboratory, an exhibition space, and a place that connects historical memory to contemporary imagination. Tucked away in Fleming, north Rome, just out of view of the white Ponte Flaminio, this is where these two artists live and work, a domestic and creative practice devoted to the art that lives with them.

Their long-time friend, Fabio Cherstich (), arrives to interview them for Apartamento magazine issue #36, greeted barefoot outside what he recalls as ‘the Grand Garçonnière residence that resembles a Cortina chalet, with windows flung open to the thick July heat of Rome’.

Step into artist Nifemi Marcus-Bello’s () Lagos studio! We recently published his debut monograph, ‘Oríkì: Material Affirmations in Three Acts’, which follows Friction Ridge, Tales by Moonlight, and Whispers of a Trail—three acts exploring bronze, aluminium, and copper, and the worlds they inhabit. Rooted in the Yoruba practice of praise poetry, the book traces his dialogue between materiality and identity, shaping the stories he wants to tell both with the material and about the material itself.

For the 10th Apartamento Cookbook, dedicated to none other than Aphrodisiacs, we asked Rosie Kellett () to send us a video of her serving up her Pesto Pasta Sonata—a dish born from heartbreak and reborn as something far more delicious.

Pistachios hold their own enchantments, prized since ancient times as little green love potions. The Assyrians and Greeks swore by them, and the Queen of Sheba even claimed the whole harvest for herself (girl knew her worth). Basil, meanwhile—named for the Greek word for ‘king’, worn as royal perfume, and used by Italian maidens to declare love. Across the Middle East, its scent was said to cast spells no one could resist.💚🌿
