Seasoned football administrator Kemo Ceesay is elected president of The Gambia Football Federation amassing a whopping 41 votes, Musa Falconz Jammeh earning 24 votes whilst Kamaso got 12 votes in a well publicized GFF elective Congress held at The Seaview Gardens Hotel on Saturday August 29th.

Kemo thrived from nearly every level of football administration to a club owner, finance director GFF to now the pinnacle, president of GFF, along the way gathering a lot admirers, experience and know-how.

A twelve years era of Lamin Kaba Bajo led administration comes to an end with a thriving legacy of a more inclusive expanded national league with teams from provincial Gambia, a noticeable attractive market of our domestic league and the more impressive accolade; back to back maiden AFCON qualification.

Essa Jallow and Pa Omar Babou put in outstanding individual and team performance to propel their Bangladesh side, Fortis Fc to advance to the group stage of the AFC challenge ( Asian Champions league 2).

Essa put in an excellent box to box midfield performance whilst Babou delivered a match winning assist, receiving the ball into his own half bursting on and threading an immaculate through ball for the game’s only goal.

The Gambian duo would look forward for their maiden appearance in the AFC challenge league phase against big guns from the Asian peninsula.

Pa Omar Babou Captain of Bangali Premier League Side Fortis Fc was in attendance at the pre match presser ahead of their crunch AFC (Asian Champions League) tie Vs Muraz United of Krygyztan tomorrow August 11, at the Bashundra Kings Arena, Dhaka. The winner of the single leg tie will earned a spot at the AFC championship and have possible match up with Asian club giants.

Babou had his most prolific season last year scoring 15 league goals in all competitions and 8 assists in the league helping Fortis finished second and secured qualification for the AFC Champs League playoffs.

TEAM FALCONZ UNVEILED ALONGSIDE ITS MANIFESTO

A unit that’s a successive entity to Team Kaba; the outgoing executive of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), Team Falconz has unveiled its manifesto and executive members this afternoon with Colonel Musa Balla Jammeh as President.

A cocktail presence of a government minister in Mod K Ceesay, Deputy CDS General Sait Njie, President GFF Lamin Kaba Bajo and his executive, veteran players and other stakeholder grace the event as “The Footballer President”, Jammeh gave a marathon deliberation of his plans if elected. Promising to improve football in all its different facets, accountability and give more recognition and roles to veteran footballers.

The GFF election is slated to take place on August 29th where football stakeholders will elect an executive to steer affairs of Gambian Football for the next four years.

MEDINA CHAMPIONS OF THE LAND.

Alieu Jagne adds yet another major trophy to an already well decorated trophy hall. Won all trophies available as player with Hawks before guiding the city club as a Coach to win the GFF 1st Division league ending a 25 year old long drought, in 2022.

A season after the historic “Sacre”, Alieu ended a near three- decade long love affair with Hawks to take over Medina United, where he won the FF Cup, and got the team promoted to the 1st Division last season.

Convinced experience campaigners like Ebou Sangyang and Adama Kanteh both from Fortune, Henry Jobe from Banjul United, Alieu Manneh from Hawks to joined the project and guild by the sensational teenager Paul Colley with his goals, A relegation battle in the first round was dramatically turned to a league challenge. With a well-furnished technical team behind him that includes the highly revered young coaching sensation Ousman Cham alias Abedi. The academy boys marched on to glory.

Amidst heavy pressure and nerve wrecking injury time moments and news of Forune’s late penalty Vs Steve Biko start to rumble inside the East Stadium. Adama Kanteh activated a saviors mantra mode, poking home from close range to send shivers and an uncontrollable joy amongst any one associated with Medina.

A whopping 54 points and 4 wins and 1 draw in their last 5 games ensured that the Banjul born gaffer wins his second league title as a coach.

Region Two East and West have reached the girls' final of the 2026 Primary Schools Inter-Regional Football Championship after winning their semi-final matches.

Region Two East defeated Region Six 3-1, while Region Two West secured a 3-0 victory over Region Five North to book their place in the final.

The two teams will now meet in the final as they battle for the girls' championship title.

The West Coast derby between Region Two West and East ended in a hard-fought goalless draw at the ongoing Primary Schools Inter-Regional Football Championship.

Both teams produced an entertaining contest and created several chances throughout the match, but solid defending and missed opportunities ensured neither side could find the back of the net.

Despite the absence of goals, the encounter lived up to expectations as the two rivals battled fiercely for supremacy, eventually settling for a point apiece.

Quick Updates On Primary Schools Regional Football Championship.

Region Two West made a strong statement in the 2026 Primary Schools Inter-Regional Football Championship, opening their campaign with a commanding 5-2 win over Region One.

Lamin Saidy led the attack with a brilliant hat-trick, while Musa Camara and Jerreh Kuyateh added one goal each to seal the victory. Region One replied through Abubacarr Janneh and Sulayman Bojang, but could not match Region Two West’s attacking firepower.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Region Two East and Region Three shared points after a 1-1 draw. CRR South recorded a clean 2-0 win against Region Six, and host region Region Four started on a high note with a narrow 2-1 victory over Region Five North. With early wins already on the board, competition is heating up across all regions.

Sare Daddy edge Sare Giddeh to win maiden Mansa AN Summareh League final

Sare Daddy were crowned champions of the maiden Mansa AN Summareh Sponsored League in Sare Debo, Upper Fuladou after a dramatic 3-2 penalty shootout victory over Sare Giddeh. The final was played today at the Sare Debo Football Field and ended goalless after 90 minutes, with both sides defending resolutely and cancelling each other out.

The tension moved to penalties, where Sare Daddy kept their composure to secure the historic title and send their supporters into celebration.

The tournament has been widely praised for spotlighting grassroots talent in Upper Fuladou, and Mansa AN Summareh was celebrated throughout the competition for his commitment to the game at community level.

Known as a strong pillar in promoting grassroots football across The Gambia, Mansa AN Summareh’s sponsorship gave local teams a proper platform to compete, develop, and showcase their skills before large crowds. His support continues to earn him respect across many footballing communities in the country.

For their triumph, winners Sare Daddy received the giant championship trophy, D15,000 cash prize, gold medals, and a brand new set of jerseys. Runners-up Sare Giddeh pocketed D10,000, silver medals, and jerseys as consolation. Several individual awards were also presented on the day to outstanding players, closing out a final that delivered drama, pride, and another boost for football development in the region.
