BREAKING NEWS: MALL@LEBO IN LEBOWAKGOMO ATTACKED BY ARM ROBBERS
Unidentified armed robbers have attacked shops and pensioners at Mall@Lebo in Lebowakgomo this morning. According to eye witnesses few shops were broken into and valuable items were stolen.

Bystanders heard gunshots from robbers. Workers hid into their shops during the robbery. Some report that few elderly people who were queuing to receive their social grants were robbed their valuables.

This is the second incident to happen at the mall. Last year robbers used the Mall roof and robbed the Mall.

Ekurhuleni forensic audit chief gunned down in Kempton Park

Mpho Mafole, the City of Ekurhuleni’s group divisional head of corporate and forensic audits, was brutally assassinated on Tuesday evening.

The 47-year-old was shot dead while driving along the R23 in Esselen Park around 5h55 PM.

Police discovered Mafole’s body inside his vehicle, riddled with gunshot wounds.

The motive for the killing remains unclear, and no suspects have been arrested.Mafole, who joined the municipality just three months ago to spearhead anti-corruption efforts, brought extensive experience from his 14-year tenure at the Auditor-General of South Africa.

His role involved investigating sensitive financial irregularities, prompting speculation that his death may be linked to his work, though police have yet to confirm this.

The City of Ekurhuleni expressed shock and grief, describing Mafole as a dedicated public servant. “We are cooperating fully with law enforcement to ensure justice is served,” a city spokesperson said.

Tributes have poured in, with colleagues praising Mafole’s integrity and commitment to transparency.

The South African Police Service is urging anyone with information to come forward as investigations continue.
