Zimbabwean inventor Maxwell Chikumbutso claims to have created a self-charging electric car—powered by radio frequencies. While Elon Musk’s Tesla and Chinese tech giants stay silent, this African breakthrough could rewrite the rules of science and energy. But is it real, or a hoax? In this documentary, we dive deep into Maxwell’s inventions, the controversies, and the global forces that may be trying to suppress him.

Inside Robert Redford's house in Sundance, Utah, as the legendary actor passes away.
Robert Redford has died aged 89 at his Sundance, Utah home, which House & Garden shot back in 1974. Here we revisit that archive feature to take a look inside the beautiful mountain community he loved and its unique way of life.
n Sundance, Utah, USA, 6,000 feet up in the Rocky Mountains, Robert Redford has set up a new community, in which many of the qualities which were so evident in the early pioneering days of America have been revived.

Sundance is only thirteen miles from the nearest town, yet the environmental difference between the two places could scarcely be greater. No cars are allowed beyond the lodge at the entrance to the 4,300. acre property, and the fifteen or so cabins are accessible only by foot-slogging, ski, horse or a rough-riding caterpillar-tractor for really heavy loads. Most of the cabins are without telephones or television. Neither is there a nearby hotel, handy supermarket, hotdog stand or any of the other supposedly high-priority amenities of American urban life.

The MES Times

Transparent solar panels are now being tested at multiple sites worldwide, offering a glimpse of the future where windows generate electricity. While less efficient than traditional rooftop panels, these solar windows can replace regular glass in homes and offices, saving both energy and space.

Companies like UbiQD and Ubiquitous Energy (UE) are leading the push. UbiQD’s Wendow uses quantum dots to capture sunlight and convert it into power, while UE’s UE Power uses transparent solar coatings that absorb infrared and ultraviolet light but allow visible light through. This means windows can “invisibly generate electricity” without blocking views.

Efficiency remains a challenge. UbiQD reports around 5% efficiency, while UE’s windows can generate 200 watt-hours per day from a standard 3x5 ft pane. Conventional solar panels, by comparison, can reach 22% efficiency. Still, experts argue the value lies in turning unused glass surfaces into power sources.

Pilot projects are already underway in the U.S., Mexico, Japan, and Australia, with installations at hotels, universities, and commercial buildings. Costs are expected to be only 20–30% higher than regular windows, making them a practical option once scaled.

If successful, transparent solar windows could help cities integrate renewable energy into everyday infrastructure, reducing carbon footprints without sacrificing design.
