Our Origin Story

Planting of a Seed

Around 2010, a store known simply as the “Game Lounge” opened in Batesville. Gaming centers have opened and close in this town but nothing like this. It opened the eyes of Nathan to what gaming could be. Not having a very good computer or the consoles there, this store opened him to a whole new world of gaming; tabletop. Specifically Magic: The Gathering. Seeing all types of gamers coming to one location to socialize while playing their games was amazing! After seeing it struggle for a few years, and inevitably close its doors, there wasn’t much else to do for the gamer types. Some went to the old Hastings and others went to McDonald’s.

In The Beginning...

After being gone for a little over 4 years in the Army, Nathan returned to Batesville. He wanted to play games with friends and make new ones, but there wasn’t much of a organized place to go to. After seeing what happened to the last locations, traveling the world a little, and researching other gaming centers, LAN centers, esports centers, and the like, Nathan started to play with the idea of opening his own. It wouldn’t be like the Game Lounge though. It would be better! He thought about having additional services, interactive community nights, more events, better equipment, more pleasing environment, and more uniform. Bringing what he learned about uniformity, professionalism, and leadership from his time in the service to the gaming center environment, he believed this could be more than better, but could set the standard. Though his plans may be large and out of reach, it gives him goals to reach for.

What is a “gaming center”?

A gaming center is a place where gamers of all kinds can come and enjoy games and each other’s company. Where tabletop players can battle each other to Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, go on a D&D adventure, or even try new tabletop games like Azul, Catan, and so much more. Maybe you’re more in the mood for some hardcore PC gaming, not a problem. Console gaming? That’s almost a requirement. Any kind of gaming you can think of, gaming centers have them. We are taking the best parts of LAN centers, esports arenas, and game stores and combining them all here!

Currently:

From a couple of doodles on paper working at a coffee shop to a very possible business, Singularity Gaming Center can be a reality. Though still in the conceptual phases, progress is being made to secure financing and partnering. So far, Singularity has potentially partnered with OPSEAT, iBUYPOWER PC, and more! This won’t just be any gaming center, but will set the standard for others to follow.

What’s Next?

We are planning future events such as tournaments and game nights. Right now, we are finishing our business plan to secure our funding. We are going to be marketing by going into the community directly and talking to our potential customers. This is where we can use your help. Show your support by spreading the word, come to our events, meet us in person. We want to make our mark through community grassroots marketing. You are our greatest asset.
