The Prayer of THE CREED Explained [cont.2]
"suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended into hell"

Roman provinces were usually ruled by high-rank officials. Less important provinces though were entrusted to prefects, military men who would otherwise only govern parts of larger provinces. The most famous example is Pontius Pilate, who governed Judaea at a time when it was administered as an annex of Syria.

John 19
Luke 23: 13-25
Matthew 27: 15-31

He descended into hell;
Jesus "descended into the lower parts of the earth. He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens."The Apostles' Creed confesses in the same article Christ's descent into hell and his Resurrection from the dead on the third day, because in his Passover it was precisely out of the depths of death that he made life spring forth:
Christ, that Morning Star, who came back from the dead, and shed his peaceful light on all mankind, your Son who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
The frequent New Testament affirmations that Jesus was "raised from the dead" presuppose that the crucified one sojourned in the realm of the dead prior to his resurrection. This was the first meaning given in the apostolic preaching to Christ's descent into hell: that Jesus, like all men, experienced death and in his soul joined the others in the realm of the dead. But he descended there as Savior, proclaiming the Good News to the spirits imprisoned there.

The Prayer of CREED explained.. [cont 1]
"and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary".

We also profess/agree that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born from the Virgin Mary.

Luke 1:26-38 [New Testament]
The Birth of Jesus Is Announced
In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy God sent the angel Gabriel to a town in Galilee named Nazareth. He had a message for a young woman promised in marriage to a man named Joseph, who was a descendant of King David. Her name was Mary. The angel came to her and said, “Peace be with you! The Lord is with you and has greatly blessed you!”
Mary was deeply troubled by the angel's message, and she wondered what his words meant. The angel said to her, “Don't be afraid, Mary; God has been gracious to you. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High God. The Lord God will make him a king, as his ancestor David was, and he will be the king of the descendants of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end!”
Mary said to the angel, “I am a virgin. How, then, can this be?
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and God's power will rest upon you. For this reason the holy child will be called the Son of God. Remember your relative Elizabeth. It is said that she cannot have children, but she herself is now six months pregnant, even though she is very old. For there is nothing that God cannot do.”
“I am the Lord's servant,” said Mary; “may it happen to me as you have said.” And the angel left her.

Explaining the CREED

"I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth"

We profess/confirm our faith in God as Creator of all things visible and invisible. He brought everything into existence out of nothing. His Creation, is Almighty Love, because all the benefits of creation are gained by the creatures, and not by the Creator.

Genesis 1:1-31 [Old Testament]
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

The prayer of the CREED - is the confirmation of all the faithful within the Catholic Church.
THE CREED
I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended into hell;
on the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.

FAITH
What is Faith?
Faith is believing in something of which we do not have proof. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the assurance of things not seen

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” [Hebrews 11:1]

THE SIGN OF THE CROSS - FAITH & PROTECTION
The Sign of the Cross, is a profession of faith in God as he revealed himself. It serves as an abbreviated form of the Apostles’ Creed. Touching our forehead, breast and shoulders, we declare our belief in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are announcing our faith in what God has done — the creation of all things, the redemption of humanity from sin and death, and the establishment of the Church, which offers new life to all. When we sign ourselves we are making ourselves aware of God’s presence and opening ourselves to his action in our lives. In the morning, evening, any time you're happy or anxious or a dangerous feeling.. The Sign of the Cross to call on our Lord.
