Overjoyed Bayer Leverkusen fans stormed on to the pitch twice as the hosts thrashed Werder Bremen 5-0 at BayArena to win their first-ever Bundesliga title with 5 matches to spare.
Nigerian striker Victor Boniface opened the scoring for Xabi Alonso's side with a penalty while former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka doubled the advantage before teenage sensation Florian Wirtz came off the bench to score a second half hat trick.
The historic match lived to its expectations. Overjoyed home supporters entered the field of play twice before the full time whistle - when Wirtz scored the club's 4th and 5th goals.
After crushing Werder Bremen at BayArena on Sunday, Bayer Leverkusen stretched their overall unbeaten run to 43 games this season, and 29 in the Germany top-flight.
They have amassed 79 points, 16 clear of second-place Thomas Tuchel's Bayern Munich.
Bayer Leverkusen have finished runners-up 5 times in Bundesliga.
Xabi Alonso's men have ended Bayern Munich's 11-year dominance in Germany. The last time Germans witnessed a different Bundesliga winner was Jurgen Klopp's Borussia Dortmund way back in 2012.
We finally have a new Bundesliga Champion this time around, congratulations Bayer Leverkusen 🏆
