Conflicting reports are causing concern in Bekkersdal, West Rand 😟. Water samples taken from household taps between May and June this year have tested positive for E.coli and other pollutants 🧪⚠️.

Despite this, the Rand West Local Municipality maintains that the water is safe to drink. Residents are left confused and worried about the true state of their tap water. 🏠❓

🚱 Water Outages Hit Joburg! Rand Water has started a massive 21-day maintenance project across Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Ekurhuleni, leaving many areas with low pressure or no water at all.

💧 Affected areas include:
✅ Soweto
✅ Randburg
✅ Roodepoort
✅ Lenasia
✅ Crown Gardens
✅ Commando System (Brixton, Hursthill, Crosby)
✅ Aeroton & Naturena

Residents are urged to store water in advance, as some places could take 5 to 14 days to stabilise once maintenance ends.

🚚 Water tankers will be dispatched to the hardest-hit areas to assist communities.

Rand Water is conducting maintenance work that is causing water supply interruptions in Johannesburg.

Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo says the residents of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni need not panic about the second phase of maintenance starting Monday morning.

The weeks-long first phase of the major maintenance operation was concluded successfully earlier in June 2025.

Maroo says the maintenance will impact three of the four major water pumping stations - Eikenhof, Palmiet and Zwartkopjes - affecting three Gauteng Metro municipalities and Madibeng Municipality in the North West.

Also included are Mogale City in the West Rand and Rustenburg.
