MY DAUGHTER'S IN-LAWS TOOK THE MONEY I SENT HER & TREATED HER LIKE THE MAID — I MADE SURE THEY KNEW IT WAS A BIG MISTAKE.
When my daughter Ava got married, I couldn’t attend — I was recovering abroad. To still support her, I sent a generous gift. But instead of giving her cash, I bought her a house and car. It was meant for her and her husband.
Months later, I surprised her with a visit — and walked into a nightmare.
Ava was on her knees scrubbing the floor. Her in-laws, Charles and Linda, lounged on the couch eating, barking orders like she was staff.
"DON'T FORGET THE HALLWAY THIS TIME," Linda said.
"AVA, BRING ME MY GLASS," Charles added later at dinner.
I watched in silence, heart burning.
When I asked Ava what was going on, she said it was "temporary." They had been living there since the wedding.
The next morning, I noticed that Ava's new car was used only by them as if it was their own.
"I don't have time," she said, tired.
That was it.
With her husband away on a work trip, I called a "house meeting" the next day. I stood in the kitchen and spoke calmly but firmly, sending them into a meltdown. ⬇️
