The Tesla boycotts are real. And they’re getting serious.
After months of uncertainty, the verdict is in on the backlash to Elon Musk’s increasingly expensive interventions in politics — and it’s not good for Musk. After years of dominating the U.S. electric vehicle market, Tesla faces threats at home and abroad: Its stock is dropping, sales are plummeting in Europe and the U.S., and both sales and prices for used Teslas are dropping.
Now, a new threat looms on the horizon: whether Republicans in Congress will cut the Inflation Reduction Act, which directed hundreds of billions in subsidies to electric vehicle makers, including Tesla.
