First Pikes Peak Ascent trail race 🏔️
📍Manitou Springs, CO

So many of you have reached out saying you want to know more about trail running or now have added this race to your list, which makes me so happy!!

I haven’t shared much about running/races on my page but it’s amazing the community it brings 🫶🏃‍♀️🏔️

Pikes Peak Ascent ✅🏔️

I have been in denial this race was coming up 😅 mostly because my free time had been focused on renovating and my training was not as consistent as what I wanted it to be.

I was super nervous about not making the cut off times and not finishing, but so grateful to get out there today and accomplished this race. So fun seeing some friends, and people that recognized me from Instagram (which never happens 😅) and getting Addie out here (she was in heaven) 🦮🏃‍♀️

Good job to everyone out there and good luck to the marathon runners tomorrow! 🏔️

Have never been so nervous 🙈🏃‍♀️

The Pikes Peak Ascent is this weekend and it will be my first time running it!

Here’s everything I’m packing for this trail race:

- vest (lightweight, many pockets, easy to drink from water bottles, stretchy and holds everything)

- to track and of course post to

- for hydration, endurance fuel and my favorite birthday cake recovery

- and for some fuel

- I take every 30 minutes to prevent cramping, has helped so much

- shorts, shirts, fleece and trail shoes

- hat to protect from the sun for hours out there 😅

- sunscreen is so necessary especially when going up in altitude

- new favorite socks

I will also have some other snacks/hydration at the aid stations and wear some additional layers before/after the race as it will be a low of 25 and high of 60 🥶

Here’s some favorite spots in📍Woodland Park and surrounding towns Green Mountain Falls, Divide, and Manitou Springs:

- ATVs and sling shot rides on trails with , and yes some options are dog friendly 🐾

- Hike to Raspberry Mountain (5 miles, 1100 feet elevation gain)

- Crags trail (5 miles, 830 feet elevation gain, option to take route to Pikes Peak)

- Rampart reservoir- fun to walk around, flat and easy trail (3 miles or less)

- out of Manitou Springs to Pikes Peak

- in Green Mountain Falls 🖼️ 🏔️

- in Divide 🍺

- - both patios are dog friendly. Love the brats and rooftop patio here as well! 🍻

- .wp for a coffee and amazing made in house pastries ☕️

- Donuts at 🍩

- Breakfast at The Pantry and dinner

in Highlands Ranch, one of Chewy Vet Care’s locations in Denver, was amazing with Addie and addressed all of her current health needs🦮

She is always nervous of things that are out of routine, including going to the vet. She was quickly put at ease with the friendliness at Chewy, and of course the pets and treats ❤️

Make it a fun day together! Go on a nearby hike and treat them afterwards 🐾 🍦
