It was 30 years ago today: guitarists Sérgio and Odair Assad's 'Saga dos Migrantes' was released on Nonesuch. The album features Sérgio Assad’s five-movement title suite, as well as works by Villa-Lobos, Piazzolla, Ginastera, and Gismonti.

The Assads “have always shown a passion for Latin works that can be equally regarded as formal classical music and jazz," says the New York Times. On this set, “they blur the lines exquisitely.”
