*Another Paratrooper’s Body Recovered in South Kashmir’s Kokernag After ‘Snowstorm’*

Anantnag, Oct 10, KNT: The body of another Paratrooper has been recovered from the upper reaches of Kokernag in South Kashmir, three days after the duo went missing during an anti-militancy operation in the area amid a severe snowstorm.

Officials said the soldier’s body was located during the ongoing search and rescue operation launched soon after communication was lost with the two personnel during the adverse weather conditions.

Earlier, the body of one Paratrooper was recovered from the same area. Both soldiers had been part of a special operation team conducting searches in the snowbound heights of Kokernag.

The recovery of the second body has brought an end to the intensive search that continued despite rough terrain and freezing temperatures.

Army sources said the mortal remains will be sent for formal identification and subsequent completion of military honors. [KNT]

*Two Army soldiers missing in Kokernag during anti-terror operation, search underway*

Srinagar, Oct 8: Two Army soldiers have gone out of contact in the upper reaches of Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district amid an ongoing anti-terror operation, official sources said today.

A massive search has been launched in the dense forest area to trace the soldiers, who officials believe may have lost contact due to the inclement weather that prevailed over the last two days.

"The duo might have strayed from their team because of poor visibility and difficult terrain caused by recent snowfall," official sources said. The soldiers were part of a small team that had launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the area yesterday.

Since then, communication with them has not been established. Helicopters have been pressed into service to assist ground troops in the search efforts.

"The operation is ongoing, with Army and security personnel combing the forests to locate the troopers," sources added.

Meanwhile, defence officials said they have not received any official information about the soldiers being missing.–(UNI)

Light to Moderate Rains likely in Jammu Division Till September 11: IMD Issues Advisory

Srinagar, The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory for several districts of Jammu Division, forecasting cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers over the next five days, from September 7 to 11.

According to the bulletin issued by IMD as per news agency Kashmir News Corner --- KNC, districts including Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban are likely to witness spells of rainfall of varying intensity during the forecast period. The advisory highlighted that September 7 could see heavy rainfall at isolated places in Jammu, Kathua and Udhampur, especially during evening and night hours, which may trigger localized flooding or landslides in hilly terrains.

For Jammu district, the IMD predicted cloudy skies with the possibility of light to moderate showers on September 7 and 8. From September 9 onwards, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy with only occasional light rainfall at isolated spots. Similar conditions have been forecast for Kathua and Udhampur districts, with the addition that heavy showers may occur in patches on September 7 and 8.

The advisory further mentioned that in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts, generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely on September 7 and 8. On subsequent days, skies are expected to clear gradually, with partly cloudy conditions dominating between September 9 and 11.

Officials have cautioned residents in landslide-prone and hilly areas to remain alert as waterlogging, road blockades and mudslides cannot be ruled out during spells of heavy rainfall. The advisory also urged travelers on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway and other interior routes to plan their journeys accordingly and follow updates from local authorities.

Meanwhile, farmers have been advised to take necessary precautions to protect standing crops from water stagnation and soil erosion. Tourists and locals engaging in outdoor activities have been asked to stay away from vulnerable riverbanks, streams and unstable slopes until the weather improves.

IMD said its teams are closely monitoring the weather developments, and any significant changes in the forecast will be communicated through further advisories. (KNC)
