Ambitious & insightful, James Islington’s The Will of the Many is a dark academia book with a lot of heart and a lot of rage.

Alex from Spells and Spaceships gave me one of my favourite quotes for The Scour, so far. For a reviewer who has been running their own site for almost six years, reviewing some of the best and brightest in SFF, to call Swan's novella perhaps the very best novella they've ever read is massive.

In addition, something else Alex calls out is that "The Scour pulled me with force straight out of a reading slump, making me take the book to work, and to give that ‘one more chapter’ feel every single time. I can’t wait to read the full trilogy now, it was a real pleasure."

And as a publisher, you can't hope for a lot more than that. The Scour by Richard Swan releases 20th of October 2025. Get your pre-orders in now.

The awards shows might be as boring as watching paint dry but the Emmys did at least recognise some of the great grimdark TV series brought to our screen over the last year.

Reaper’s Gale is one of the most action packed, heart-breaking, and metal books in Steven Erikson’s Malazan: Book of the Fallen.

Reaper’s Gale is one of my personal favorites from the series, and if you’re someone who is hesitant to continue, I implore you to.

With Advanced Reader Copies for The Scour by Richard Swan landing a few weeks back, feedback is starting to absolutely POUR in.

I've been waiting to roll these out, but with just under five weeks until this brilliant Empire of the Wolf novella hits the stands, I think it's time you saw what early readers are saying about this book. Let's start with The Green Bone Saga author, Fonda Lee.

“The Scour is the crackling fantasy legal procedural that I’ve been wanting and waiting for ever since reading The Justice of Kings, and it’s somehow even better than I’d hoped for. Swan uses mysterious murders and haunted lighthouses to pry at discomfiting themes—political corruption of the legal system, the machinery of empire, and the slippery slope that bends powerful men toward evil. I would read a dozen more of Justice Vonvalt’s cases.”

This novella … you are going to LOVE The Scour.

Pearl, already a complex, character-driven thriller, is more devastating than we could have imagined as we get an inside look into Pearl’s descent into psychopathy.

Pearl is one of the few female slashers we have, and I can’t wait to read the following two books in the series to see Waggoner work his magic yet again.
