Identifying the relationship between conscious arts and the youth, the I Am Hip-Hop magazine’s primary aim is to educate, inform and provoke the minds of young people in London; promoting positivity, culture and social awareness. I Am Hip-Hop magazine feature articles and reviews about music, film, visual arts, poetry, ecology and sustainability, indigenous people and how to maintain a healthy body and mind. The magazine also have a dedicated international arts section featuring articles on culture from reporters across the globe. With the recent quandary surrounding young people across the U.K, No Bounds seeks to educate and encourage the London youth to become life-long learners and positive, productive community members. Speaking the language of the youth, the magazine aims to bridge the gaps in society and connect with young people to overcome the societal issues that they are facing today. Before she photographed hip-hop history, Lisa Leone was living it. 📸

Growing up as a B-girl in the Bronx, she danced and MC’d in her neighbourhood, immersed in hip-hop before it became a global phenomenon.

While studying photography in high school, Leone began taking publicity shots of friends who were appearing in films like Flashdance and Style Wars. From there, she found herself documenting some of the most iconic names and moments in hip-hop.

As Leone once recalled: “You’d be hanging out and you’d get a phone call, like ‘come down, we’re shooting “Big Poppa” over at Nell’s’… I live down the block so I would just walk over.”

Not looking in from the outside, but capturing the culture she came from. 🖤

Nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur was killed, Duane “Keefe D” Davis has been found guilty of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors said the 1996 shooting was retaliation after Tupac and members of his entourage attacked Keefe D’s nephew, Orlando Anderson, at the MGM Grand earlier that night.

Keefe D was not accused of firing the fatal shots, but of orchestrating the drive-by attack and providing the gun. Crucially, much of the case against him came from his own words, including interviews, media appearances and his memoir, in which he had spoken about his involvement for years.
