Mainstreet Festival Parade Canceled Due to Propane Explosion in Laurel

Laurel, MD – May 10, 2025 – The City of Laurel regrets to announce the cancellation of the Mainstreet Festival Parade scheduled for today due to a propane explosion at the intersection of 4th and Main Streets. The explosion, which occurred during vendor setup, has been contained.

Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) crews are on-site and assessing the situation to ensure public safety. At this time, the status of the remainder of the festival is still under review, and further updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
We understand the disappointment this may cause and are prioritizing safety above all else. The City of Laurel is actively monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates regarding the festival’s status.

This photo is from an incident where an overheated surge protector caused significant damage. Keep the heater at least three feet away from anything flammable and never leave it unattended.

Who Remembers This Guy?

Former Cosby Show actor revealed that he is still struggling to make a living as a “middle class actor.”

During a radio interview with Atlanta radio station V-103, the 63 year old actor discussed how most actors do not make a lot of money compared to their A-List celebrity counterparts.

"I struggle every day to make my ends meet. People have a false impression of what the average, what I call 'middle-class actor' makes, and their ability to make a living in the industry."

Six years ago he went viral when a fan snapped a photo of him working at Trader Joe’s. Many people and news outlets attempted to job shame him, but several celebrities such as and came to his defense. Nicki even sent him a check for $25,000, but he donated the entire sum to a charity called the Actor’s Fund.

He released a statement that read, “I would like to give this donation of 25k to the Actor’s Fund in memory of the late, great -- who played Cosby’s father, ‘Russell’, on “The Cosby Show” -- who lived his last many years and died at the Actors’ Home, (funded and run by the Actor’s Fund). I am extremely grateful to Nicki Minaj for enabling struggling actors to continue pursuing their dreams."
