The Bloodline Cried for Help

My blood is Jamaican—
but deeper still, Ethiopian.
the ancient fire runs in me.
The other thread, Bahamian—
Taino, Arawak—
the first people,
the first cry to see what would become America’s reach.

Generations have suffered.
Traumas stacked like bricks,
passed down in silence,
carried in the marrow,
coded in the DNA.
My family’s life—
my own life—
bearing wounds older
than the names we carry.

The bloodline cried for help.

It cried in chains.
It cried in fields.
It cried in houses
where little girls were told,
“This is normal,”
as men twice,
three times their age
stole their innocence.

But there are things
that do not bend to culture,
that cannot be excused
by time or place.
There are truths
written into the fabric of eternity—
justice, dignity, freedom, love.
And those truths
cut across centuries
like lightning.

The bloodline cried for help—
and I heard it.
I feel it.
A frequency so deep,
so different,
that it rattles my bones.
It tells me: Stop.
Stop repeating.
Stop surrendering.
Stop allowing greed and lies
to rewrite history.

The bloodline cries for help—
because it sees me.
Because it knows
I was born to break chains,
to rewrite the ending,
to carry destiny in my chest.

I cannot sit back.
I cannot stay quiet.
It is not enough to pray
for someone else to rise.
The Lord says:
You are the change.
You are the one.
You will not fold beneath this weight.

It is easy to pray,
“Lord, send a deliverer.”
But it is harder
to look in the mirror
and see Him sending you.

The bloodline cries for help.
And I answer:
I will not let you die in silence.
I will not let you drown in shame.
I will carry you,
heal you,
lift you,
and leave a legacy
where our children
can finally breathe free.

The bloodline cries for help.
And today,
I say back:
I hear you.
I am here.
We will rise.
