Forty-seven years ago, a small group of concerned citizens started Friends of Ballona Wetlands to save the wetlands from being developed by businessman Howard Hughes’ heirs. Dysphonia International will host its 6th annual Walk for Talk on Saturday, Oct. 18, to raise money for the Greater Los Angeles Dysphonia Support Group. Last year, Playa Vista walkers raised $10,000. More than that, however, the walk raises awareness of voice conditions. The reason? Voices are that important.
