I biked the North County Trail in Westchester today. It’s a 22.5 part of the Empire Stare Trail. I started in Millwood (near Ossining) and road North through Yorktown. The trail goes north to the Putnam County line and meets up with a bike path which takes further north. Going south from Millwood wher I started, the trail takes you to Cortland Manor, Elmsford, Tarrytown and to paths that eventually take you to the Nronx and Manhattan.
The North County Trailway was constructed along the Putnam Division railbed of the former New York Central Railroad ("Old Put"). At its north end it becomes the Putnam County Trailway, which continues along the former railbed to Brewster, New York.
