🚨New video on my YouTube channel, all about the most MAGICAL 4 days spent in The Dolomites. Honestly, having most of my hiking experience being in Japan, I’m used to needing to drive for about 4 hours and then hike for 6+ hours and only then will you find views like this, but in the Dolomites - the views look like this out the window of your car 😂 it’s crazy how accessible it is even on a day hike. Definitely not something that I thought was possible, so I’m so glad we were able to find these hikes!

It’s actually kinda hard to comprehend the beauty of this place, man. We’d be walking along, already running an hour behind (cuz we were taking photos), I JUST put my camera back in my bag, and then you turn a corner, let out a heavy sigh and get the camera back out again 😂 My biggest tip would be - don’t be in a hurry here 😆 Go watch it now, link in my bio!

The best onsen I’ve been to in Japan are nowhere near major cities or tourist attractions, instead they’re quietly existing hours away from civilisation, usually deep in nature or on the side of the mountain. These natural onsen are EVERYWHERE in Japan (sometimes they’ve got like 2 reviews on google maps lol) and they all hold a super special place in my heart. I’ve been living in and travelling Japan for almost 10 years now, documenting my trips for likeminded travellers, so if you like these spots, you’ll LOVE the places recommended in my two travel guides - Beyond the Tourist Trail: Central Japan and Kyoto Edition. The central Japan guide features 100+ deep-Japan locations like this, that are often hidden in nature and require a little adventure to get there and the Kyoto edition features unique locations within Kyoto itself, all public transport accessible and doable in a short trip. I’ve personally visited every location so it’s information you can trust and I can guarantee you’ll find spots that you’ve never heard of before 🤩 See the link in my bio 👆🏼

Hiking in Japan can look VERY different from your classic Mt Fuji climb and this is one hike I’ve been excited about tackling for awhile now! It requires a long stretch of good weather (which can be tricky in the Northern Alps), a lot of planning, mountain hut bookings and of course, stamina! Not gonna lie, it was pretty tough at times (though I’m convinced it because of my 15kg backpack) as there was a lot of climbing, scrambling and ladder climbing but the views made it worth EVERY step! As an Australian, climbing high elevation mountains are such a treat and novelty for me every time. The air is cool, the atmosphere is thin and therefore, photography is almost too easy. Everything is so effortlessly crisp, colourful and clear 😍

I filmed a YouTube video from this trip so stay tuned for that ❤️

Autumn has gotta be the best season to go camping in! Warm days, chilly evenings and waking up under the momiji 🍁😍

Of course, it’s not always this glamorous - after all, the night before this photo was taken I had to sleep overnight on the side of a sloped mountain road while street racers zoomed past at 3am 😳 Safe to say I didn’t sleep much that night 😅 but throughout all the rough situations, these beautiful moments in between make it all worthwhile 😍 Travelling slow through countryside towns, exploring random little beautiful gorges that are barely even mentioned on the maps and eating mitarashi dango at 9am because you didn’t have any gas left to cook oats in the morning 😂 This is what it’s all about!

I’m sorry, but what in fresh heaven did I stumble upon today?! Straight out of a mf fairytale!

So glad I’m finally on the road again and doing what I love best ☺️ I’m only in Japan for two more weeks this time so I’ve gotta make the most of it 🍁

What an honour! 💛 A Doctor Yellow sighting in the wild!

Doctor Yellow gets his iconic name by running along the majority of the Shinkansen train tracks in Japan, diagnosing any problems with the tracks or overhead wires to maintain safety for the other trains. No passengers are aboard these trains, but instead there’s a team of 9 workers onboard (drivers, technicians and other workers) that monitor data and relay any concerns to maintenance crew for repair. It’s also the only bullet train in Japan to reach its full speed potential of 443km/h (!! normally they only run at 338km/h) in order to test the resilience of the tracks.

It’s said that being lucky enough to spot one will bring you happiness and damn, it really did 😅 I felt like I’d just caught a rare Pokémon 😆

I had absolutely no idea about this train until yesterday and now I’m obsessed 😍 I have no one but to thank for the heads up on his approximate whereabouts and my now new found understanding of “Train Otaku”. I get it now, it’s very exciting 😄

It’s good to be back 🥰

The past couple of weeks back in Japan have been absolutely wonderful ☺️ Being back in my own space, comfort zone and of course, Jeep has me really wondering “was I even depressed a few weeks back?” 🤔 lol I seriously can’t wait till the day that I no longer have to worry about my visa for at least another year 😅

I haven’t had the chance to take the Jeep out for a proper camp yet but I’m planning my next few weeks now and I’m thinking… Fuji? 👀

An update for those who missed it, yes I am back in Japan but only for a month to see Chris again ☺️ Still no updates on when I’m back for good 😔

I guess life can’t always be flowers and sunshine 😔 I just published a video on my channel explaining some news I’ve been sitting on for awhile and unfortunately it’s not good news. Luckily though, it has nothing to do with the health or safety of my loved ones so I’m grateful for that! It has a lot to do with my future and the future of my channel though so go check it out.

I probably won’t be replying to many DM’s about this because honestly, it’s already drained most of the life from me this year so for my own sanity, I might just like it and leave it. Please forgive my absence and inability to engage with most ppl at the moment. I really appreciate your support though ❤️

🚨New video alert! 4 Days Overland Camping in Hakuba 🏕 Such a fun (and beautiful) trip with my friends before flying out to Aus the next day 😅

I know I know, I’ve been away from Japan for a couple of months and I’m only juuuust finishing my last video from there 😅 I’ve been working like a mad man for the past week trying to finish Taiwan videos (out in Jan 2023), putting together my first travel guide ✨ editing this video and one other big stressful thing that’s stolen more time from me than I’d like to admit. Trust me, everything will make sense in a week or so because I’ve actually been keeping a big secret from you 👀 But we’ll get to it when we get to it! Until then, enjoy this fun vlog from Hakuba ❤️
