My underground network connects every plant in the forest.
I transport nutrients between 100 different trees.
One handful of soil contains 60 miles of my fungal network.
Without me, 90% of plants cannot survive.
I am the internet of the forest — destroy me and the connection breaks.
🌐 Destroy me = plant internet offline
🌳 Without me = 90% of forests collapse

When attacked by insects, plants release volatile organic compounds (VOCs), alerting nearby plants to ramp up their defenses. Below the soil, the "wood wide web", a network of mycorrhizal fungi, allows plants to share nutrients and send distress signals, ensuring the survival of their community.

Recent studies also suggest that stressed plants emit ultrasonic clicks, possibly alerting insects, animals, and even nearby plants to environmental stress.

This hidden language of plants challenges the idea that they're passive life forms. Instead, they are highly interactive, adapting to threats and supporting their neighbors in ways we’re just beginning to understand.
