Whimsy was wonderful yesterday! A smaller group than normal braved the rain threatening on the horizon to drive out to Driftwood Winery. The views were amazing, the beauty of the valley shrouded in low hanging clouds.

Our visits were intimate moments of catching up on our lives. We talked about fears and decided, once again, they would not stop our faith in a future ripe with opportunities to find joy.

I remembered that it is much easier and more hopeful to walk through life connected to people you love and who love you. We see each other’s strengths and are fed by them. We see each other’s weaknesses and overlook or hold one another up.

Whimsy is for connecting each of us so that when the winds blow, we stand. All girls are welcome.

Whimsy today is all about sharing our favorites! I love listening to all the little things about a person, their wishes and dreams, who and what they love, and what they fear, where they have been and where they want to go. In spending the time to learn, I always am rewarded. I find a friend!

Beautiful! Smart! Able! Full of power to make a difference! That is my description of each of you. You are in this village, this valley, to love, to be alert to needs, to encourage and build up and connect.

Some days that is harder to do. But on those hard days, you are not alone. You are loved and valued by us, other Whimsy Girls. So find one you can trust and get filled with hope. Joy will follow and you will gain strength to encourage and care.

I believe that when I am struggling, the best move I can make is to encourage someone else. In the middle of focusing on that simple act, answers come to whatever I am struggling with, I am inspired by who I am encouraging, my joy increases and hope is renewed. There is no downside.

If you are discouraged or your days are hard, reach out to a friend who will build you up. Listen to hope. Listen to encouragement. You will grow stronger. And whatever you are facing, you will conquer the fear and the hopeless feeling and joy will return.
